My sunshine…

Jake

The ride back from the airport was quieter at first, the air still carrying the lingering warmth of goodbyes. Laura sat beside me in the passenger seat, her head leaning against the window, a soft smile on her lips. Her fingers played absentmindedly with the hem of her dress, and I couldn't help but glance over at her every few seconds.

God, she was beautiful. Even in the simplest moments, when she wasn't trying to be, she just… was.

I reached out and grabbed her hand, lacing my fingers with hers. She turned to look at me, her smile widening as her eyes sparkled with affection.

"Are you okay?" I asked softly, squeezing her hand.

She nodded. "Yeah. Just… processing everything. It's been such an emotional morning. I miss them already. The past few days have been so sweet and perfect. It almost feels like having them here forever. I didn't want them to go."
