A tear fell down Ahneeka's eyes. She didn't know when it did but only noticed the tear as it fell from her eyes.
"Why Cassie?" She found herself asking.
She had tried her best not to, not to give in to her emotions like Cassie so desperately wanted her to. She was a remarried woman now and whether or not her marriage with Charles was a contract, it didn't matter. She wasn't supposed to be grieving her ex or the former memories they once shared.
"What wrong have I done to you, Cassie? What did I do to you to make you feel so bad and believe I deserve this?" Her voice broke.
Honestly this wasn't something she would ask. This wasn't something she was supposed to. But the more she thought about it, about Cassie's hurtful words, about everything. About the betrayal she had faced at the hands of the people she trusted the most.
