What are you?

"What happened to him?" Ellie asked, staring down at the unconscious Amael.

"I… don't know," responded Stan, sharing the same bewildered look as Leo. "When we got here after that scream, we found him this way," he added, gazing at Amael, whose once purple hair had faded to a dull gray. His wide-open eyes, even in the midst of unconsciousness, stared unblinking at the ceiling.

"Sely," she called, and the girl moved towards Amael, placing her palms on his chest.

"Xyna's Blessing: Purification," she said, and her palms glowed a bright green, so radiant that it seemed to illuminate the already lavishly decorated room. However, as time passed, the girl began sweating profusely; her shoulders shook, and her brows furrowed. Then…

"AHH…!" she gasped and crumbled to her knees, quaking in fear.

"What happened?" Ellie asked, staring at the now terrified girl.

"I… don't know... I… just can't explain it…" she stuttered, trying to distance herself from Amael's seemingly lifeless body.

Suddenly, two hands grabbed her shoulders firmly, and she looked up to meet Ellie's concerned gaze. "Try."

"His body… it keeps rejecting help. It's as though it wants to remain broken. I felt something dark… something I've never felt before, a terrifying presence sealed deep within him," she said, then…

"Ugh," they all heard, turning to find Amael staring from his sleep.

"A seal?" Ellie thought.

Yes, she and the other elven royals had known about the fallen genius who was once said to be the prophesied avatar of a Celestial god, thanks to one of their major spies in the capital of the Azure Empire. But that notion changed when it was discovered he possessed a demon's bloodline, hindering any chances of being the prophesied avatar since light could not mix with darkness.

But…

… it was then discovered that what he had wasn't just the bloodline of a demon. No, it was that of a fallen angel. In fact, calling it a demon wasn't entirely accurate, but it held some truth if one were to read through history regarding the deeds of the demon Azareth, who opposed the Celestial gods.

However, that still didn't mean he was the avatar. No, if anything, he was now a danger. Instead of being the avatar of the Celestial gods—whose goal was said to be the salvation of humanity—he would most likely become a tool for the demon Azareth to return to the world of the living.

"Is that the reason for the seal?" she thought, piecing it all together.

But then… why was he mana-less?

It shouldn't even be remotely possible.

Or…

"Could it be that it was also sealed?" she wondered.

Perhaps…

But then again…

There was a chance that was not the full story.

In fact, she was beginning to feel that the humans were hiding something from the world—something that could be detrimental to all beings alike—and she had to discover what it was. If not for anything else, to keep her kind safe from the once prophesied 'END OF ALL THINGS.'

Perhaps this young man was still connected to the prophecy, but perhaps not as they were meant to believe. Perhaps he wasn't the avatar but the incarnation of 'Neburus,' as also prophesied. The prophecy made it clear that the return of the primordial beings wouldn't solely be that of the so-called 'kind' gods; it would also include the primordial evils.

And perhaps… this so-called prophesied 'END OF ALL THINGS' was sooner than they all thought or expected.

Perhaps… just perhaps, these creatures, the Ryques, were the first manifestation of the primordial evils.

'This… can't be…' she thought as she began to grasp a deeper meaning behind everything she ever knew.

It was said in one of the ancient records that good and evil cannot coexist unless both sides were once the same—two sides of a coin.

Neburus.

The greatest of primordial evils.

He was the genesis.

The origin of it all.

The one who was said to have been forced into the ways of evil.

Driven into insanity.

But…

'Hah,' she heaved, feeling an unease in her chest. 'I have to take him back with me. We have to find out what he really is,' she thought.

The more she pondered, the more frightened she became.

It was also said that Neburus was once a Celestial god—one of the five supreme beings said to control existence itself.

The Moon God, at least that's what the Church of the Order of Hermit called him. But that was before he fell into the ways of evil.

However… it was said that during the era of the extinction of gods—during the Great Cataclysm, the first war—Neburus was slain by the Celestial gods, and his soul was split into seven parts, hidden through the gaps of existence. But that wasn't the issue here. Right after the first war, the god Azareth was said to have fallen from grace.

Now that she thought about it,

COULD IT BE THAT WASN'T ACTUALLY A COINCIDENCE?

COULD… could it be that the fallen angel Azareth and the true evil, Neburus, are both one and the same?

'No… that can't be,' she tried to convince herself. However…

-BOOOOM!

She heard a noise and turned to look at the door. "What was that?" Stan asked.

'It would be better if he were to pick it up himself, as that is standard procedure,' she recalled the words of the registrar, and it clicked.

'They want him back. No… I can't let that happen—not before I uncover what he truly is,' she thought, then turned to Leo.

"Get him. We have to go," she ordered, her eyes glowing green.

"Tashbath's Bloodline," she muttered under her breath, then her mana flared. "Fourth Form: A Step Through Reality," she added. However…

-Whoosh!

'What was that?!' she wondered as the magic circle forming beneath them crumbled to nothing.

And suddenly…

-Wooom!

A bright surge of light engulfed them all.

"This surge of energy… it's… a LEGACY!" Leo realized, feeling the familiar energy.

"But I thought this was a dungeon," Stan said, understanding what it meant.

No one was leaving.

There… was no way out.

Ellie, shocked by all this, could now feel her body disintegrating into dust.

Something seemed to have made this LEGACY react.

But what?

She turned to the limp body of Amael, which was now fading just like hers, and she understood.

But this realization terrified her beyond words.

And that was for one reason alone.

'Just what LEGACY was that exactly?'
