The Uneasy Watcher

Her breath was a frozen cloud in the air as she walked.

That feeling didn't fade. That feeling that there was something - someone - watching her. She could feel it on her, feel it deep in her gut.

She could feel her heart racing in her chest. She was starting to worry.

It had to just be her imagination, she told herself firmly. Just her own fear.

There wasn't anyone else in the forest beyond the guards who were on her side.

There was no way an assassin could hope to find her out here, and even if they did, the guards would protect her.

It was just.

A creepy feeling because she was out in the forest at dusk with no one visibly around.

Anyone would feel it. Anyone would get that same shivering feeling that there was something else in the woods with her, something that she couldn't see. That she couldn't find no matter how much she tried to scan the surrounding trees.

It was probably some animal or something, anyway.
