The Mealtime Meeting

The king was not a man of many words. Then again, neither was Donncahd.

Rache looked between the two of them, silently eating. They sat in a silent room, without any real discussion.

She wasn't even certain what she was meant to do here. Perhaps it was nothing more than to appear alongside Donncahd because that was what was proper for the wife of the prince? It wasn't as if anyone in Sidera believed the princess had a will or existence beyond being an extension of his.

If they even bothered to think of her at all.

The men did not speak, so she didn't see any point in interrupting the meal with words.

It was likely any attempt she made to break the silence would only cause her to regret doing so, anyway.

But-

As the king had never attempted to harm or even particularly antagonize her, she at the very least could act as a normal wife to Donncahd while there were eyes present to witness. As much as she could do, at any rate.
