Chapter 07:Fairy Race

Central Region of the Continent

Although the majority of the land is covered in forests inhabited by the elf race, there is a vast area where no trees grow.

A race lives within this wide grassland. They maintain good relations with the elves and angels and receive their protection from other races' invasions.

They are—the fairies.

The fairy race in this world is known for their close relationship with nature and magical power. They have existed long before other civilizations, making them one of the oldest races in the world. In the past, fairies were the rulers of great forests and guardians of all living things. Throughout their history, fairies have been involved in various conflicts with other races, particularly humans (and now no humans live on the continent) and orcs, who often tried to conquer natural lands that the fairies considered sacred. Nowadays, fairies tend to live in small, hidden groups, trying to protect the remaining forests from destruction.

The fairy race is divided into two sub-races: the first is the common fairy. They have a childlike nature and love to invite young girls from other races, especially those with a good appearance, to play.

The second sub-race is the fairy queen. The fairy queen is more mature than the other fairies. She is married to the fairy king and takes care of all the other fairies.

Fairy culture is deeply connected to nature, particularly forests, rivers, and stars. Their belief system honors the spirits of nature and deities that protect life. Fairy art is heavily influenced by the beauty of nature: their music often mimics the sounds of the forest, and their carvings depict flora and fauna in extraordinary detail. They are also known as skilled craftsmen, especially in creating magical items and weapons from wood, stone, and metal found in nature.

Fairies live in a highly organized yet flexible society, with leaders usually chosen from among the elders or those with the strongest connection to nature. Their policies are based on balance, where every decision is made considering its impact on nature and other living creatures.

Fairies believe in deities of nature, whom they call the Guardians of Life. The chief deity in the fairy pantheon is Aethera, the goddess of forests and life, considered the first creator of the fairy race. They also honor other gods and goddesses, such as Solana, the goddess of the sun and growth, and Luna, the goddess of the moon and secrets. Their religious rituals and ceremonies are often held under the moonlight or in the middle of forests, with dances and songs aimed at calling upon nature's blessings and maintaining the balance between the fairies and their world.

Fairies are known for their beauty and grace. They have slender bodies, about the size of the palm of other creatures. Their skin often glows softly, especially under moonlight, and ranges in color from pale gold to emerald green, reflecting their connection to nature. Fairy hair is typically long and flowing, with natural colors such as silver, gold, or even leaf green.

Their eyes exude a childlike aura and often shine with brilliant colors such as sapphire blue, emerald green, or amethyst purple. Their pointed ears are a hallmark that marks them as magical beings.

Fairies have extraordinarily long lifespans, often reaching thousands of years, and because of this, they perceive time differently than other races. Although they are immortal, their bodies remain youthful and fresh, even though their age far exceeds that of humans.

Fairies also possess innate magical abilities that allow them to communicate with nature, manipulate natural elements, and use healing magic.

Fairies use magic by relying on the support of stars and constellations. The brighter a star or the higher the rank of a constellation that serves as a fairy's source of power, the stronger that fairy is.

The marker that determines the rank of a constellation is the complexity of the constellation's shape and the number and brightness of stars within it.

Therefore, fairy magic is called 'star magic.'

Midnight, Elf Forest, Central Continent

Someone wearing a green cloak ran through the dense forest at night. They skillfully dodged trees and swiftly made their way toward the grassland area where no trees grew.

They were gasping for breath from exhaustion but did not stop running. Finally, they reached their destination.

The grassland area where not a single tree grew in the middle of the region. This area offered a breathtaking view: grass that emitted light, particles of light rising from the ground and illuminating the night sky, and lastly, colorful orbs of light scattered throughout the area.

These orbs of light were the magic energy of fairies, enveloping and protecting their bodies. The fairies inside them paused their games and turned toward the new arrival.

Upon recognizing the identity of the newcomer, their confused expressions turned into joyful ones, and they shouted.

""Eryl-chan!!!""

The figure then pulled back the hood covering their face, revealing a young girl with blonde hair and long, pointed ears.

Afterward, the fairies surrounded the elf named Eryl with cheerful smiles on their faces.

"Ne,ne , Eryl-chan. Have you come to play with us again?" asked one of them.

"Really?"

"Let's play!!!"

"Yay!!!"

Eryl responded to their enthusiasm with an awkward smile.

"Well, I'd love to play, but I need to deliver a message to Her Majesty the Queen first," Eryl said.

""Eh?!"" all the fairies exclaimed in disappointment.

Seeing their expressions, Eryl panicked and quickly comforted them with food.

"It'll only take a moment, I promise! Why don't you eat this while you wait, and later, we'll play all night. How about that?" Eryl said, offering a package of food.

"So hurry and take me to the queen, and we can play even sooner," she continued.

Hearing Eryl's explanation and seeing the food package larger than their own bodies in Eryl's hands, they agreed and led Eryl to their queen after taking the food.

[It seems fairies are weak to food, ok noted!]

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew as light enveloped Eryl's body. Then, the scenery around her changed from the grassland to a castle made of trees.

Eryl entered the castle slowly. Inside, there was a medieval-style room with wooden furniture. In the center of the room was a small throne with a female fairy sitting on it.

The fairy had snow-white hair flowing down to her back and gray eyes. She was taller than the average fairy and exuded an aura of majesty and maturity.

The sky-blue gown she wore complemented her white hair and transparent white wings on her back, enhancing her beauty.

She was the fairy queen, Elmessia.

Eryl bowed respectfully and said, "It's an honor to meet you again, Your Majesty."

Elmessia waved her hand, gesturing for Eryl to stand.

"Enough, enough, haven't I told you not to be so formal with me?" she said, frowning and puffing her cheeks in displeasure.

"Hah, besides, you're a messenger of the elf king and queen, right? So when delivering messages, you should behave like a king or queen meeting the leader of another nation," she continued after sighing.

"...sorry," Eryl said with a regretful expression.

"It's fine. What's the message?" Elmessia asked, her tone turning serious.

"Huff, the king said that the plan has failed, and the king requests the fairies' help to monitor the elves around the forest," Eryl said after taking a deep breath and exhaling.

"I see, this is becoming more troublesome," Elmessia replied with a frustrated expression.

"Why are the elves more focused on honor when their next generation is dying one by one?" she continued.

"Sorry..." Eryl said, her voice filled with guilt as she bowed her head and clenched her fists.

'Look, the queen is bullying Eryl-chan.' 'Yeah, should we tell the king?' 'But what if the queen refuses to play with us anymore?'

Whispering voices came from the fairies.

'These fairies…' thought Elmessia as a vein bulged on her forehead.

"It's alright, this isn't your fault," Elmessia reassured Eryl, shaking her head.

"Never mind, besides, you're still a child. You should go and play with them outside—they've already started protesting while waiting outside. I can hear them," Elmessia said with a cold smile, emphasizing the last sentence. The whispering voices outside the door went silent once more.

"Alright," Eryl replied, bowing again before walking toward the door.
