The silence in the internet café was shattered by a sudden roar, breaking the concentration of the gaming-obsessed youth.
The atmosphere had grown so thick with tension, it felt suffocating. Zhou Haiquan's face was grim, his expression dark with anger.
Beside him, Xiong Tao and Cao Jinyan, though full of youthful energy and bravado, couldn't help but show a flicker of hesitation in their eyes.
They weren't seasoned fighters, and the sight of over a dozen thugs bearing down on them sent a shiver through their spines.
Though filled with adrenaline, the reality of being outnumbered was hard to ignore. They were strong, but they weren't invincible. "Tao, Lao Cao," Zhou Haiquan said through gritted teeth, "this is on me. I kicked him first. If they want a beating, let them hit me. It's just a few punches—no big deal, they can't kill me."
True to his loyal nature, Zhou Haiquan was prepared to take the fall for the group. As he spoke, the gang of delinquents had already surrounded them. Sun Rui, the girl who had been at Zhou's side, turned pale with fear. She cried out, "You thugs stay back! If you come any closer, I'll call the police!"
"Call the police, my ass!" roared Huang Bo, the leader of the group. "Take that bitch's phone and teach these kids a lesson!" With a vicious grin, he swung a hard slap aimed straight for Zhou Haiquan's face.
Huang Bo had no doubt that no one would dare stand in his way.
He had the numbers, and Zhou's group looked petrified. But as his hand flew towards Zhou's cheek, something unexpected happened.
Just as his palm was mere inches away from its target, a strong hand grabbed his wrist, stopping him cold. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break free.
"You've got some nerve, fighting back?" Huang Bo snarled.
"Why wouldn't I fight back? You want to hit my brother, but did you ask for my opinion first?" The voice belonged to Chen Yuan, who stood tall and firm, his tone unyielding.
Huang Bo sneered, "Who the hell do you think you are—" Before he could finish, Chen Yuan launched a powerful kick that sent Huang flying several meters, rolling across the floor like a rag doll.
With a strength nearly double that of a normal person, Chen Yuan's kick had turned Huang into little more than a punching bag.
Groaning in pain, Huang Bo barely managed to get to his knees. But the sight of their leader being taken down sent one of the gang members, a burly man with a shaved head, into a rage. "Get him! Beat the hell out of this punk!"
Yet Chen Yuan didn't retreat. On the contrary, he charged forward, throwing himself into the fray with reckless abandon.
His body, strengthened far beyond the average, became a weapon in itself. Chen Yuan was not only hard to knock down—he could hit back with twice the force. His punches left the thugs reeling, while their attacks barely fazed him.
Though outnumbered, he fought like a wild beast, plowing through the gang as if they were nothing but obstacles in his path.
His raw strength and resilience turned the tide of the fight. The thugs, though a dozen strong, were quickly overwhelmed, only a handful actually brave enough to engage him.
The others, clearly there just to boost numbers, were too scared to get involved.
Just as the fight seemed to tilt in Chen Yuan's favor, Xiong Tao roared, "I'm not sitting this one out! Nobody hits my brother and gets away with it!" He threw himself into the brawl, taking on one of the thugs.
"Lao Er, Lao Si, you two are crazy strong! I'm not chickening out either!" Cao Jinyan joined in, fists flying as he tackled another thug.
Zhou Haiquan, seeing his friends rush to his aid, knew he couldn't just stand by. This was his mess to clean up, after all.
And with Sun Rui watching from the sidelines, he wasn't about to look weak. With a deep breath, he joined the fray.
With three of his roommates at his side, Chen Yuan became unstoppable. What had been a risky standoff turned into a rout.
Even with ten men against them, the four fought like a pack of wolves, pushing back the thugs with relentless energy. In just a few minutes, the gang lay sprawled across the floor, defeated.
The onlookers, a bunch of wide-eyed teenagers, could hardly believe what they'd just witnessed. "Who is that guy?" someone murmured. "Dude, he just took on ten people by himself!"
"Man, I should've recorded that for my social media!" another chimed in, clearly impressed.
Chen Yuan had become the hero of the moment, his strength and bravery winning him admiration from every corner of the room.
Sun Rui looked at him, her eyes filled with admiration, her heart pounding in her chest. "Chen Yuan, you're amazing!"
The way he had fearlessly stood up to the thugs had left a lasting impression on her.
She had never seen anyone like him before—a man who was not only rich but also incredibly strong.
His boldness, his sheer masculinity, had burned itself into her memory. Sun Rui's eyes twinkled with stars, and she couldn't help but think how lucky she would be to be with someone like him.
At the same time, another girl, Xu Lele, was also in awe. Her admiration for Chen Yuan grew even stronger, her gaze filled with infatuation.
She had never seen anyone like him—brave, capable, and willing to stand up for his friends without hesitation. "Chen Yuan, you're incredible," she thought to herself, her feelings for him deepening.
As the system message echoed in his mind, Chen Yuan grinned. This was just the beginning. His strength had grown, and now, he was ready to take on whatever challenges came his way.
