I sat there, catching my breath, still feeling the faint press of Thalindra's hands where she'd pinned me down.
It was surreal to think that she, Thalindra the Black Mage, a figure wrapped in ominous tales, had been so close just moments ago. It should have frightened me, but instead, there was an odd thrill lingering in my chest.
Maybe I was crazy for even entertaining that thought—everyone else feared her. She was supposed to be a force to be reckoned with, a danger I should avoid at all costs. But somehow, even after all of that, I felt… safe.
I touched the spot on my arm where her fingers had gripped me, as if doing so would help me understand what just happened.
