Late dinner

When I woke again, it was dark, and the first thing that registered was the rumbling in my stomach, loud enough to make me blush in the stillness. I couldn't tell if Thalindra was nearby, but I felt like even the fox could probably hear the complaint from my belly.

Sitting up, I took in the strange luxury of the room around me, every detail somehow even richer in the low glow of night.

The heavy curtains were drawn, with only a thin strip of moonlight seeping through, casting silver lines across the plush carpet.

Everything around me felt impossibly soft, warm, and slightly overwhelming. I thought about the villagers and their sparse furnishings.

Compared to this, even their best room would be modest. My feet hit the floor, and I pressed my toes into the thick rug beneath me.
