As I stood there, hopelessly attempting to cover myself, Thalindra took a step closer. Her dark eyes gleamed with that infuriating mix of humor and something deeper, something that sent a shiver up my spine despite my mortification.
The fox, ever the chaotic instigator, curled up by a nearby bush as if settling in to watch the show.
"Why are you coming closer?" I asked, taking a step back, nearly tripping over a charred stick in the process. "Stay over there."
"Why?" Thalindra's voice was a purr, her smirk growing. "You're acting like I'm some sort of villain."
"You are a villain!" I snapped, pointing at her accusingly, which only served to leave my torso more exposed. Realizing my mistake, I scrambled to fold my arms again, heat flooding my face. "And you're staring!"
Thalindra tilted her head. "Am I? Or are you just imagining things because you're all flustered?"
