OVERLY SENSITIVE

It was messed up for Carl to say something like that to Laurel, despite everything that she had done for him and all those years when she treated him like her own son.

 

But then, Carl was too proud to admit it; ultimately, he wanted to hurt Laurel because she kept bothering him.

 

Yet, it didn't feel as good as he thought.

 

After what Carl said, both of them fell into silence, and without saying anything, Laurel left him alone just like how he wanted it.

 

Laurel simply nodded and then walked away.

 

For a moment, Carl wanted to call her; her name was already on the tip of his tongue—and apologize for the way he talked.

 

But he closed the door instead.
