"How long are you going to keep sulking there? Are you looking to die or something?"
Si Niang heard this question from Cui Rong, which was directed at him. Everyone remaining was about to depart into the depths of the mountain, but he had been silent as if he had phased out of existence. His senses weren't really closed off. In fact, he had heard the entire discussion and even more aware of the friction between Zi Yan and their group.
He just didn't play a part since he had no objective in all this. Cui Rong seemed to realize this from the hopeless look on his face. She had hoped her previous question would jolt him back to reality.
The meaning of the previous remark was naturally at himself since he also had touched Mu Bai's blood so there was no doubt that he would soon be poisoned too and if he remained unmoving as he is now, there is no doubt that he too would end up in the same state as Mu Bai.
Cui Rong did not plan to venture into the unknown woods with just this ignorant trio led by Bai Ming. The skills that Si Niang had shown in their previous hunt had already been noted by her. Although Bai Ming had also shown some skill, it was not worth noting. At best, it could be sufficient for self-defense. When it comes to taking the initiative in precarious situations, Si Niang was the most ideal, and his skills had proved this.
So how could she allow this pack of muscles to remain to waste here? She immediately decided to do whatever it took to make him join in their excursion for survival.
Cui Rong then looked at Chi Huo as if asking for assistance. Chi Huo seemed to understand this and turned to face Si Niang.
"This friend of yours, Mu Bai, was it? He can still be saved."
Si Niang jerked his head up to look at this healer Chi Huo. One would expect that he would have a hopeful expression hearing this, but that was not the case, in stead a heavy gaze landed on Chi Huo along with bloodshot eyes.
He had been bottling an intense rage this entire time without an outlet. In fact, he already had a plan, but he had not resolved himself to it.
That's right, he had been silently plotting, but his direction seemed not to lean on helping Mu Bai but more on vengeance. Of course, it's not as if he wanted this to be the first plan he'd enact, just a moment ago he had realized he was simply to useless to help his friend but even so he knew that since he can't save him then he would avenge him. So, hearing the healer's words in that thoughtful moment made his rage even more menacing.
How could he not realize that these two were trying their best to rope him in on this plan of theirs. Sure, he also needed a cure and would have to join them, but the way the idea had been presented to him had made him displeased.
He was also aware that at this moment, their party needed someone with brawn and skill, and he was just the right candidate for this. Thinking of this, his piercing gaze remained on the healer.
"Are you telling the truth?"
Chi Huo stiffened for a bit, but he didn't want to show weakness. However, before he could answer, Chi Huo added again.
"If you're lying, then you can stop dreaming of whatever it is you think you'll achieve in this journey."
A dark expression immediately blanketed this healer's face. He could clearly tell that this was a threat. He was naturally unhappy, and most importantly, he was still a man and not the soft kind either.
Which man in this world liked to be threatened?
His previous flat demeanour had already been seen by Si Niang, so he also knew this man would not have agreed to this uncertain journey without anything to gain in the process.
Cui Rong's brow furrowed, thinking this Si Niang was simply too stupid and reckless.
No matter what world, threatening someone who could save your life could not be considered a smart choice, but she still felt that this Si Niang's impulsive actions would benefit their group. After all, someone needs to put this healer in check.
He had not joined out of kindness but only because he had his own selfish intentions. The future could not be predicted. At least those who were present had not seen such illogical powers, so they could not afford to take unnecessary risks. And if such a person were to act as they please, then they would have to pay a higher price. In sometimes, one had to show weakness and in others' strength.
Each person had their own share of experiences, and the world wasn't just black and white.
Greed, lust, and pride seemed to fuel a lot of trickery and deceit in this world.
If Chi Huo dares to go back on his word in helping them, then he had to be prepared to lose his life in the process.
Si Niang had basically said, "If my friend does not live, then so will you."
Chi Huo also understood this, but the mountain could be dangerous, and one extra hand could save a life.
Knowing this, he answered again, "I am not lying."
Si Niang immediately shot down his answer, "Earlier, you said he can't make it to the camp, so why do you think he will make it deep into the mountains?"
Chi Huo seemed to have prepared an answer by simply taking out a small bag and threw it at Si Niang, who reflexively grabbed it. He warily opened it.
"There are three bottles. The medicine in it can not heal him, but it can slow down the progression of the poison, giving him more time," Chi Huo spoke.
Si Niang immediately took one of the bottles and poured the medicine into Mu Bai's mouth. He did not see an immediate effect; Mu Bai's breathing was still ragged.
Seeing Si Niang stare at him again, Chi Huo simply added, "Give it time."
Although Si Niang was still doubtful, he did not argue and hung the bag with the remaining medicines on his waist. He nodded at Cui Rong and Bai Ming's trio. With that, the discussion had come to an end, and everyone else immediately packed their equipment and needs.
Not long after that everyone was ready and they left.
