Chapter 7: Skeleton Hound

Chapter 7: Skeleton Hound

[Skeleton Hound]

[Level: 5 (0/1500)]

[Attributes: Constitution 12, Strength 14, Agility 16, Perception 5, Intelligence 5, Charisma 4.]

[Traits: Hollow Skeleton, Basic Soulfire.]

[Basic Soulfire: This undead unit possesses basic soulfire, enabling it to understand and execute relatively simple commands.]

Its skeletal form no longer resembled a Teddy, especially given its size, which was now comparable to a lion.

The Skeleton Hound's attributes showed higher strength and agility.

However, its constitution seemed a bit low.

A new trait, Basic Soulfire, had been added.

The description explained that the Skeleton now possessed soulfire, allowing it to understand more complex commands.

This was actually a good improvement.

Although the Skeleton Warriors were useful, they were too rigid, often requiring supervision to execute commands, and had difficulty with complex instructions.

Now, with soulfire, they could understand a wider range of orders.

But he wasn't sure how this soulfire was generated.

Was it a special type of undead?

Or did it come with reaching a certain level?

Unable to figure it out, he set the thought aside.

After checking the attributes, he was about to lead the skeletons to loot the apartments when his gaze fell on the chunks of flesh scattered across the floor.

"Brain matter?"

A milky white substance remained where the head of the original corpse had been.

It stood out among the other pieces of flesh, catching his eye immediately.

Under the influence of Raise Skeleton, the summoning process melted the flesh of the corpse like hot wax, including the skin and internal organs.

But this special 'flesh' retained its texture, making it easily noticeable.

"Did the Teddy have a tumor?"

Using his iron spear, he picked up the chunk of flesh and examined it closely.

It was about the size of a marble, with a slightly elastic texture, similar to holding a piece of jelly.

What is this?

Clang, clang, clang~!

Just as Wu Heng was examining the flesh, the iron railing began to shake again, startling him.

Looking up, he saw the Skeleton Teddy clutching the stair railing with its front limbs, furiously swaying its hips.

Its hip bones clattered against the iron bars, making a loud noise.

As the noise echoed through the stairwell, the sound of zombies banging on doors outside grew louder.

"Damn it!"

Wu Heng felt at a loss.

You're just a skeleton, you don't even have that part anymore—why are you still making these motions?

"Stop!" Wu Heng immediately ordered.

The Skeleton Teddy instinctively swayed its hips a couple more times before looking up at him.

In its hollow eye sockets, flickering soulfire was visible.

"Stand by," Wu Heng commanded again.

The Skeleton Teddy sat down, no longer making any strange movements.

This little interruption killed his interest in further examination, so he stuffed the flesh into a plastic bag and led the skeletons downstairs.

After confirming that the front door was securely closed and posed no risk of opening, he began converting the zombies killed by the Teddy into skeletons.

Then, he went from apartment to apartment, looting anything useful or that could be sold in Blackstone Town.

Everything that could be used or sold was packed into his backpack and taken with him.

Once he had finished, he exited the stairwell and returned to Blackstone Town.

Back in Blackstone Town, Wu Heng headed straight to the Deer Antler Shop.

The shopkeeper greeted him warmly.

It seemed the resin he had sold last time had made the shopkeeper a decent profit.

"Mr. Wu Heng, do you have more items for sale today?" the shopkeeper asked with a smile, full of expectation.

"I'm here to buy a few things."

The shopkeeper maintained his smile and asked, "What do you need?"

"Do you have any medicine for injuries?" Wu Heng inquired.

He hadn't felt it much during the battle, but afterward, his whole body ached.

Although there were no visible wounds, his shoulders and arms were covered in bruises.

"Yes," the shopkeeper replied, bending down to retrieve two glass vials from the counter. "The type of potion you need depends on the nature of the injury."

Wu Heng rolled up his sleeve, showing the bruises. "This kind—caused by falls."

"In that case, a small dose should suffice," the shopkeeper advised.

"Alright, how much?"

"1 silver, 30 copper."

Alchemy was well-developed in this world; even though he hadn't used such potions before, Wu Heng had heard about them.

He paid the shopkeeper and took the potion.

[Minor Healing Potion]

(Description: A potion with healing properties.)

Without hesitation, he tipped the vial and drank it.

As the potion went down, he felt a warm sensation spreading through his body.

The pain in his body began to subside.

It was pretty amazing to feel relief so quickly after drinking it.

After purchasing a few more healing potions and some for mental restoration, a thought crossed his mind about the flesh he found after killing the zombie.

He opened his backpack and took a glance, frowning slightly.

[Mutated Corpse Core]

(Description: An energy crystal from a mutated creature, capable of enhancing constitution but carries a risk of toxin contamination.)

The item now had attributes.

There had been no changes in the zombie world, but in this world, attributes became visible.

It seemed his system notifications were connected to this world. Only when interacting with this world did corresponding notifications appear.

Just like his own attributes and the skeletons' attributes, which only appeared after he became a necromancer.

Though it was just a theory, it seemed accurate.

"Is there a problem? Potion vials are usually quite sturdy and shouldn't break so easily," the shopkeeper asked, noticing Wu Heng with his head buried in his backpack.

Wu Heng lifted his head and asked, "Boss, let me ask you something. I have a friend who obtained a piece of flesh from a creature that seems to have some potential to enhance constitution, but he's worried it might be toxic. What should he do?"

"Are you talking about biological material? Materials derived from creatures are often used as ingredients for alchemy potions. I wouldn't recommend your friend experimenting on his own; it's better to take it to an alchemist for identification. If he's still unsure, he can go to the Adventurers' Guild and post a commission. It might cost a bit, but safety is the priority," the shopkeeper replied while tidying up the counter.

An alchemy material?

Posting a commission...

Wu Heng thought about it and felt the suggestion was a good one.

Seeing more customers entering the shop, Wu Heng didn't linger.

He bid farewell and left the shop.

Standing at the entrance, he thought for a moment before heading toward the town center.

The Adventurers' Guild was established about five hundred years ago.

It started as a base for a close-knit group of adventurers, serving as a place for cooperative ventures and information exchange.

Over time, the guild's reputation and influence spread worldwide, encompassing all races and kingdoms.

As membership grew and its influence expanded.

The adventurers' base was officially renamed the Adventurers' Guild.

They established branches across various regions, providing assistance to adventurers while also serving a regulatory role.

Wu Heng had obtained his necromancer class transfer book through the guild.

The guild hall was vast and imposing.

It was bustling with adventurers.

There were muscular men with shiny, oily skin, and warriors clad in silver armor with greatswords on their backs.

There were also slender women in tight leather armor, armed with bows.

It felt like walking into a massive cosplay event, except that the female adventurers were dressed in practical leather armor, not bikini-style outfits.

"Not sexy at all," Wu Heng muttered.

In front of him was a counter, where clerks were handling various issues for the adventurers.

Nearby was a display board with various commissions posted, including bounties for wanted criminals, monster hunts, and information gathering.

Completing these commissions could earn rewards in money and items.

Money was the standard reward, but item rewards could be anything from skill books to the journals of ancient sages, magical items, or weapons and armor.

The Adventurers' Guild, spread across all races, possessed vast materials and resources, so whatever you needed, it could be found here.

Wu Heng merely glanced at these postings, not particularly interested.

Catching criminals and hunting monsters—none of these tasks were safe.

As a newbie who had just changed his class, he wasn't ready to get involved.

Approaching the counter, a female clerk greeted him with a smile. "Sir, how can I help you today?"

"I'd like to post a commission."
