Chapter 216, Amplification Weakening
Solar panels?
Wu Heng thought for a moment and then realized they were talking about solar panels.
These things weren't exactly uncommon; the streetlights in some neighborhoods used them.
But regular people had no use for them.
He had even seen some videos before where these solar panels were laid out on rooftops to power entire buildings.
However, such setups were typically found on villas or single-story houses.
Apartment complexes couldn't exactly accommodate large-scale solar panel installations.
It was understandable why the shelters wanted to attack such a factory.
In the current situation, most shelters had problems with power supply.
For modern people, without electricity, life was no different from living in the Stone Age. Solar panels were a great alternative.
At least they were simpler compared to wind or thermal power generation.
"Is there a factory like that around here?" Wu Heng asked.
"From what they're saying, it sounds like they know of a place, and they must have sent scouts to check it out in advance," Li Yanhong recalled, frowning. "It seems there are Level Two mutated zombies inside, so they need to cooperate with other shelters. The spoils will be split evenly."
Wu Heng had never heard of such a factory.
But with their certainty, it seemed they had solid intel, and there might even be people in the shelter who used to work there.
"When are they heading out?"
"I'm not sure. I just overheard them talking about it. Should I ask?" Li Yanhong asked.
Wu Heng thought for a moment, "Yes, ask and see what their plan is."
"Alright, I'll ask them in a bit," Li Yanhong glanced back at the people from the convoy. "Do you want to have dinner with us?"
The convoy was now temporarily staying at the transit station, so they didn't need to go back.
"No, get everyone settled. I'll find you later tonight if I have time," Wu Heng replied.
"Okay, I'll go get them settled first."
"Good!"
Li Yanhong waved and headed back to the convoy.
...
After Li Yanhong left, Wu Heng returned to the room he had set up.
He used the portal to return to his residence.
From downstairs, the sounds of Minnie and Andviel cooking could be heard as Wu Heng entered his study and placed the potions he had obtained today on the desk.
Besides the one he gave to Li Yanhong, he still had five bottles left.
After thinking for a moment, he opened one and drank it.
A warm sensation spread from his stomach throughout his body, followed by a notification.
[Strength +1.]
This time, it only increased his attribute by one point.
After the discomfort from the potion subsided, he opened a second bottle and drank it as well.
[Constitution +1.]
Again, only a one-point increase.
It seemed the effect of Level One corpse core potions had been fixed at one attribute point.
When he first started using corpse cores.
The increase was three points. Around Level 5, it had dropped to two points.
Now, it only increased by one.
The weakening of the effect was quite significant.
If his attributes increased any further, he feared not even a single point would be added, meaning he'd need to use Level Two corpse cores to continue gaining attributes.
But the potions from Level Two corpse cores were still under development, and who knew how long it would take.
Looking at the remaining three potions, Wu Heng decided not to use them.
The effects on him were becoming too small.
Using them to enhance the strength of those around him would yield better results.
If they became stronger, they could carry out tasks more effectively.
He put away the three potions and casually opened his attribute panel.
[Name: Wu Heng]
[Level: 10]
[Attributes: Strength 25, Agility 25, Constitution 28, Intelligence 30, Perception 18, Charisma 26.]
[Specialties: …, Arcane Training, Soul Knowledge, Haunting Knowledge, Magical Senses, Arcane Echo, Necromancer Scholar, Undead Adaptation.]
[Abilities: Gray Hawk Swordsmanship (Beginner), Enhanced Will, Soul Energy Perception.]
[Skills: Raise Skeleton, …, Bone Armor, Corpse Cage.]
Looking at the attributes on the panel, Wu Heng pondered.
In terms of normal Professional progression, his attribute increases weren't slow.
With six attributes in total, five of them weren't low. Even his Strength and Constitution weren't inferior to those of close-combat classes of the same level.
The only somewhat lacking stat was Perception, with only 18 points.
Perception corresponded to intuition and sensory acuity. Simply put, it quantified your observational and insightful abilities.
In combat, detecting hidden enemies or traps along the way depended on the strength of your Perception.
In this area, he wasn't particularly strong.
But Wu Heng had ways to compensate for that.
After all, his two wraiths could act as scouts, detecting danger or exploring unknown areas in advance.
He had always done this.
Relying on the wraiths didn't mean the attribute was useless, though. He still planned to increase it whenever possible.
As he sat at his desk thinking, Minnie's voice called from downstairs.
"Master, dinner's ready~!"
...
Heading downstairs.
Wen Mansa had also returned.
The four of them sat down at the dining table to eat.
Wen Mansa took small bites and said, "Master, no one is spreading those harmful rumors anymore. Our flyers have been fully distributed, and we've arranged for some gang members to read them to the residents in certain areas."
"Good. Keep things going but be mindful of any movements from Elno's side. They might try something," Wu Heng said.
Wen Mansa nodded, "Alright, I'll have people keep an eye on things."
"By the way, have you found any information on Momlo?" Wu Heng asked, remembering something.
"Not yet. We're a bit short on manpower, so intel gathering is a bit slow."
Wu Heng took a sip of water and continued, "Dig into that person. They should have some influence in the city. Also, have people keep an eye on Burke's residence and watch for anyone contacting his family."
"Understood, I'll get on it tomorrow."
...
After dinner.
They all sat in the living room chatting.
Wen Mansa seemed to be enjoying her current life, resting her chin on her hand as she watched Andviel teach Minnie how to write.
Things were indeed quieter on the gang's side, and she used to live there alone.
Now it was livelier here.
When Minnie finished writing and complained about her hand cramping.
Wu Heng took out the three potions.
He said, "These are potions to enhance your constitution. Each of you take one."
Wen Mansa had taken such potions before. Potions that could directly change one's constitution were always highly valuable.
Her smile was filled with excitement, "Thank you, Master."
She got up, took the potion, and kissed Wu Heng on the cheek as she sat back down.
It was the first time Minnie and Andviel had seen such potions, but judging by Wen Mansa's reaction, they knew these weren't something you could easily get on the market.
Otherwise, as the wife of a gang leader, Wen Mansa wouldn't be so thrilled.
Minnie and Andviel each took a bottle, holding it in their hands.
Wu Heng said, "Alright, just open them and drink."
The three exchanged glances.
Then they uncorked the bottles and drank them in one go.
Wen Mansa and Andviel's bodies began to flush red as if they had a fever, but the symptoms quickly faded.
They stared at their hands, seemingly sensing changes in their bodies.
Minnie, however, showed more obvious symptoms.
Her body turned red, and purple veins appeared on her exposed arms and legs. She looked pained, curling up in a chair, softly moaning.
Andviel was startled and rushed over to check on her.
Wu Heng lifted her clothes to take a look.
Compared to Wu Heng's first experience with the potion, her symptoms were milder.
The symptoms lasted less than a minute before all the discomfort in Minnie's body disappeared.
Her curled-up form suddenly stretched out, almost kicking Wu Heng and Andviel over.
"Are you alright?" Wu Heng asked.
Minnie felt around and said, "It seems fine now. It was really uncomfortable earlier, like my veins were on fire."
"And now?"
"Now I feel like my body's full of strength."
As she spoke, she threw two straight punches.
A gust of wind followed.
Wu Heng turned to the others, "How about you?"
Wen Mansa shrugged, "With a potion this good, there's definitely an effect."
Andviel nodded, "I feel an improvement too, though I can't pinpoint exactly where."
This potion primarily enhanced Strength, Constitution, and Agility.
No matter which attribute was boosted, it would benefit all three of them.
"Good, as long as there's an effect. You'll need to train harder from now on, especially you, Minnie," Wu Heng said.
Minnie pouted, "Why single me out? I've been working really hard too."
They chatted for a while on the first floor.
Wen Mansa glanced at Wu Heng with her beautiful eyes, "Master, want to take a bath together?"
Wu Heng shook his head, "Not today. I need to study magic and stay in my room tonight."
"Alright, I'll head to bed then!" Wen Mansa yawned and walked upstairs.
Minnie and Andviel tidied up the living room.
The three of them went upstairs to rest.
Wu Heng returned to his room.
He used the portal to return to the Zombie World.
...
Night had already fallen.
Several large lights had been set up in the transit station.
In the courtyard, Wu Heng could see Qiangzi and the others crouched by a truck, changing the tires.
He stood by the window, watching for a while.
Wu Heng picked up the radio and said, "Li Yanhong, have you contacted Flame God Shelter?"
A reply came through the radio, "I've made contact. I'll come over to give you an update."
"Good!"
Soon, footsteps approached, followed by a knock on the door.
Wu Heng opened the door and saw Li Yanhong standing at the entrance.
"Come in," Wu Heng stepped aside to let her in.
As soon as she entered, Li Yanhong threw herself into his arms and kissed him.
They kissed for a while before slowly pulling apart.
Wu Heng sat on the bed, pulling her onto his lap, and asked, "What did Flame God say?"
The military truck had a built-in radio, which was much more effective than the handheld radios they had been using.
So, even when they were out, they could still stay in contact with the outside world or receive intel.
Li Yanhong said, "Flame God Shelter has teamed up with other shelters. They'll gather at the factory tomorrow."
