Fiona wiped the tears from the edges of her eyes and moved toward Roderick. Hugging her son, she caressed his back. "Forgive your mother. She thought you were upset about not being chosen as the chairman."

Roderick smiled. "Thanks for understanding me, Mom," he whispered and pulled away. "I drank with my friends earlier, so I would like to sleep for a while."

"Sure," Fiona said and stood up. "I am proud of you, Roderick. You have always been a great son to me. You are my everything," she stated.

"I know. That's why I will work hard on myself to show you capable I am," Roderick said with determination.

"I trust you," Fiona said. "You should take some rest." With that, she left the room and went straight to her room. Picking up the phone from the table, she called George, her brother, who answered the call after a few rings.
