Matteo parked the car outside an old, crumbling house near an overgrown garden. The structure was in a state of decay, its walls cracked and weathered by time.
Pulling out his phone, he dialed Tsar's number. Before the call could connect, a familiar ringtone echoed from nearby. Matteo's hand froze and his gaze snapped toward the source.
Ending the call, he slid his phone back into his pocket and turned to face Tsar, a deep frown forming on his forehead.
"How long have you known?" Matteo asked.
"Does it even matter? You betrayed me. You betrayed my father. And in turn, I've killed your trusted men."
Matteo clenched his fists as he learned that Xander and others were dead. But what relieved him that Lucius, Demitri, Roger and Aiden were alive because he had kept them away from this matter for a long time.
Without warning, Tsar shot out his hand to grab Matteo's arm, but Matteo deflected the attack, shoving him back.
