Roger checked his watch again, sighing as he realized Varya still hadn't answered his calls. She had asked him to meet her at the hotel, but hours had passed, and she was nowhere to be seen.
Deciding he had waited long enough, he stood up, ready to leave. But just as he turned around, he came to an abrupt halt.
Varya was rushing toward him, her breathing heavy as if she had just run from outside.
"I lost my phone," she blurted out the moment she reached him.
Roger's brows furrowed in shock. "What? How?"
Varya exhaled deeply, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I went out earlier to explore the area, and I must've left it in a café. I didn't realize it until it was too late. I already reported it to the police." She looked at him with a troubled expression. "I'm sorry for making you wait so long."
Roger studied her for a moment before shaking his head. "It's fine. Let's just get you a new phone and a SIM card."
