0. Introducing the Revenge System

"Hello..." a voice said, causing the eyes of a girl to slowly open.

"Wakey, wakey. We don't have all day you know" the voice said again.

The girl's eyes opened slowly until they popped open, and she got up abruptly. 

"Oh no, oh no, oh no…shit my interview" the girl said as she paced back and forth.

"I really need this job, what am I gonna do…" she was saying but was interrupted by a cough.

"Ahem…" the voice, which turned out to be a small cute floating blue cloud with blue eyes, coughed again to make its presence known.

"Ah…" she shrieked and fell down, "what are you, what do you want with me" she said as she guarded herself with her hands.

"Honey, I could kill you if I wanted to right now. Put your hands down and listen to me" the cloud said, and slowly she kept her hand down.

"I'm gonna go straight to the point, and I'll need you to stay calm, and not freak out, okay?" said the cloud.

"Um…okay" the girl said in fear.

The cloud took in a deep breath and let it out before saying, "you died".

The girl froze, not moving, no emotion. Just…frozen.

"Are you o…" the cloud was saying but was cut off by a loud and shrill scream.

"What! I died, the hell you mean I died. I need to call for help, that's it, I need to…call…" she trailed when she realized she was in a room, nowhere near the outside world.

She stood and ran to the door of the room to open it, and almost fainted when she saw that there was nothing but the void around them.

"Oh no. no, no, no, no, no, no…" she said as she held her hair.

"Here it comes" the cloud said lazily.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…" she yelled out.

The cloud just rolled its eyes and floated to the girl.

It dragged her back into the room, and threw her on the floor.

"Oww…" she said and rubbed her sore butt.

"I know you're freaking out right now, but it's gonna have to wait. I need you to stay calm and breath with me, can you do that Jessica" the cloud said coaxingly.

"Okay…wait you know my name" Jessica asked, still nervous.

The cloud stared at her in annoyance.

"Sorry" Jessica said and kept quiet.

"Alright, breathe in…" the cloud said, and they both took a breath in.

"Now, breathe out…" the cloud said, and they took the breath out.

They repeated the breathing exercise three more times until Jessica, FINALLY, calmed down.

"Okay, since you're calm now. Let me introduce myself, and tell you everything that's going on right now. Listen carefully okay?" the cloud said to Jessica, and she nodded in response.

"I, am a system. My name is system Ash, a Revenge system. I'm in charge of helping characters in novels, who died unfairly to get their revenge. Be it the usual evil stepmothers, or evil siblings, or an uncle that doesn't give you your New Year money…" Ash said the last one in frustration.

"Anyways, the point is, I help characters achieve their goals of getting revenge. Any questions?" Ash asked Jessica.

"Okay, so you're a revenge system…right?" Jessica asked.

"Yes…" Ash answered.

"And you help characters get revenge for any unfair treatment given to them. Correct?" she asked again.

"Absolutely…" Ash said.

"Then what the hell do you need me for?!" Jessica asked in annoyance.

"Well that's not my job. You see, I can only 'help' characters get revenge. And since I'm only there for assistance, I need someone to stand in their position. I can't do it, because well…that's not what I was made for" Ash explained.

"Okay, I get it. So when I finish getting revenge for the characters I'm posing as, am I gonna get back to my own world?" Jessica asked.

"Yes you will, but only after you've finished the amount of worlds required" Ash answered.

"Phew…" she sighed in relief.

"Alright, now that everything's settled, can we get the world we're supposed to go to" Ash said impatiently.

"Okay, okay. But first, before we go, can we do something about this room" Jessica said.

"What's wrong with it?" Ash asked.

"Well…the wallpaper is peeling off, the bed looks like a block of cement, the floor is creaky and dirty, there is no entertainment whatsoever, the desk is old, the chair is old, the lights are either broken or flickering, the armchair has insects crawling all over it. And overall…the room is very gross" Jessica said all at once.

"Wow, now that you mention it. It does look awful" Ash said as it looked around.

"So, is there a place we can get stuff to make this room look less appalling and more appealing" Jessica asked.

"Well I could go to The Rage" Ash said.

"What's, the rage?" Jessica asked.

"It's a mall for all the systems and their hosts" Ash answered.

"Wait, wait, and wait. You mean there are other systems besides you?" Jessica asked.

"Yeah" Ash answered.

"Okay, but instead of the rage. I was thinking that maybe we could maybe order something, you know. Online" said Jessica.

"You're in luck, they also do delivery too" Ash said, "you can customize how you want the room to look with this tablet" he said and handed a circular shaped tablet to her.

"Cool cake, let's see" Jessica said and looked at the room from the tablet.

"I want this, and this, ooh and this, this is a must have. This also looks cool…" Jessica said as she looked at all the furniture.

"Could you buy things that aren't too expensive, we're kind of on a budget here" said Ash.

"What do you mean?" Jessica stopped scrolling on the tablet and asked.

"You think this isn't like the real world, where you have to buy what you want, AND need. You need money girl, and lucky for you, I have it. Not too much, but just enough for us to get this room in shape" said Ash.

"Okay, so what do we use to buy stuff? Like, what's the currency called" Jessica asked.

"It's called VC, which stands for 'Virtual Currency'. Right now, I have about 900,000VC" said Ash.

"That's supposed to be for budgeting" said Jessica.

"Yeah, it's the least I can have from my Current account" Ash said.

"So how much do you have in your Savings account?" Jessica asked.

"Well give or take. I'd say about…20,000,000VC" Ash said.

Causing Jessica to almost choke.

"Alright" Jessica chuckled nervously, "I'll see what I can do with the décor".

"Great, when you're done picking out the designs and furniture. Hit the VC button at the top right to pay, and then hit the arrow button below it for our stuff to be brought and arranged. When we return from our world, we can see how the room turns out" said Ash.

"Alrighty Ash" Jessica said and started looking for furniture and designs for the room.

After about 5 minutes, she was done.

"Great, now let's head to the world" said Ash.

"Got it, let's go" said Jessica as she stood up.

Ash opened up a portal on the floor, and told Jessica to jump in it.

"Really down there" Jessica said a bit nervous, and also a bit excited.

"Yes, now go" Ash said and pushed her in, and then fell in after her.
