Ethan immediately stopped flipping through the diary when he came across the set of introductions.
"This looks interesting", Ethan said as he unfolded the paper to get the full written instructions.
The content of the paper was numbered, and each number seemed to be instructions. Ethan started studying the instructions and one of the numbers triggered something.
"Your time is almost up; go now!?, these were his grandfather's last words before he left, and he got back exactly five minutes later.
"What does this mean?"Ethan asked himself as he continued reading the instructions.
*At first, I thought I was dreaming, but I later found out it was something else; I was taking back in time while possessing the body of someone else I stopped, and for a second
wanted to laugh.
"Is this some kind of fictional story, possessing someone else's body?" Ethan said as he continued to read through.
*At first I was confused I took it as a dream and just blended in and it seemed like the person I was inhabiting his body had enemies that wanted to take his life and the key came after me, I ran away but was hit by a bullet and at that moment woke and found myself back but suddenly felt a sharp pain from my leg the same place I got shot while in what I thought was a dream*
*Wow! Grandpa sure went through a lot of all he wrote here is true", Ethan said as he continued reading.
*I wasn't surprised at the things happening to me, my father was into this life and taught me most things but I was too ignorant and never took the things he said seriously because as of that time, I was the son of the Timeless legacy organization (TLO) leader and slacked off most times until the tragedy*.
"I don't know if Grandpa knew, but I bet this write-up could make him some cash if he was to publish it as a fictional novel", Ethan said, amazed at what he was reading.
*One day, something came up. My father rarely goes on missions by himself, but for some reason, he left for a mission solo; I wasn't around when he left but was told by his assistant, Charlotte Logan. Life after that day for me changed as I started taking things seriously, I knew that the responsibility of the organization was on me I was only twenty-four years but I was determined for the first time I became serious about something*
"It must have been tough for Grandpa to lose his father", Ethan said
*I was never told how my father died nor what had killed him. I had my doubts, but because the news came from his assistant, whom I know he trusts, my doubts were cleared until I came across one of them in my father's documents, and by the looks of it, it seemed like it was rejected. I'm not sure what the content of the suggestion was, nor interested in finding out, but with a touch, I found myself in the room with my father and her assistant arguing while she was holding a file, the same one rejected. After some minutes of standing, she murmured something I didn't hear well, but I think it was,
"You never listen".
And off she went, I wanted to follow her but
was called back by my father and I found this strange because he wasn't supposed to see me*
"Help me by fetching Jordan Son", my father said as he continued looking through the paper in his hands.
*I didn'tsay a word and went on to fetch Jordan. On my way there, I felt something wasn't right; I was sure it wasn't a dream but a past event, but I can't seem to remember when this happened because it seemed I was present when Charlotte's offer was turned down. I shoved the thought and continued my search for Jordan until I finally reached his dorm, where everyone I'd asked said he would be. I was about to knock when I heard voices inside*.
"Can't believe the old hag turned down the offer", a male voice said.
"I'm not surprised. Plan A was never intended to work in the first place, and that leaves us with the second one", a mature female voice said.
"Then it's plan B then", the male voice said.
*It's true that I don't go to training or missions that much but I could tell who they were referring to my father, although what they said about him being old is true how dare they speak I'll of him like that behind his back the last time I checked I was the only who has the right to call him that. The most annoying thing was that these two individuals were father's right and your left hand; that's right by their voice, I could tell who they were. Jordan was like an older brother to me, we played together, ate together, and sometimes if I have trained together I saw him as a brother wherever I heard the voices I anyone I was close to I could easily know who they were, for the second person I rarely talk to or even see her but having heard her voice while in my father's office recognizing it after some minutes was a feat a kindergarten could achieve.
*I think there's someone at the door* Charlotte said in a low voice.
*Shoot!*Jordan said as he ran towards the door and pushed it open and this caused me to fall.
"So it's you", Jordan said and, without knowing, was knocked unconscious by Charlotte, who happened to hit me while I was distracted by Jordan. At that moment, I found myself back in my father's office with the documents still in my hands.
At that moment, I knew I wasn't safe, it turns out they decided to spare my life and blocked my memories of what they don't want me to remember, but I'm aware they know that my memories would still come back, and I bet they have planned what to do when that happens. The killers of my father are quite obvious now but I can't prove it if I don't have evidence. They didn't kill me because they knew it would be suspicious of how the leader and his successor were dying at the same time, and if they were to assume power, people would protest, and their plan would work as planned.
*I planned to leave that night because remembering the event meant they would eventually get rid of me soon. I wanted to take something with me, a book, the main reason I came to my father's office in the first place. I opened the drawers where he normally kept it but it wasn't there.
"Where could it be?", I searched for it and was sure that the book wasn't in the room, it had been taken.
*What are you looking for", a voice said from behind
I knew who it was and tried as much as possible to act normal, but when I turned, I saw his face, the same face I saw bad-mouthing my father, who he claims to love.
"Oh, it's nothing, I just felt like coming here again. It's been three months, you know, since he passed away," I managed to say.
"I know, it will be alright. You still have me," Jordan said, smiling at me.
*What a fake smile and speech. Everything about you is just fake; just looking at you disgusts me*.
"I will be fine; see you," I said as I left the office.
*I need to take that book with me; the fact that they took it only means one thing: they are aware of its capabilities. By whatever means, I must not leave that in their possession, or things could go wrong at any time.
*I don't have much time. I have to leave while I still can, I have somewhere in mind to look but I'll need a plan to get in and out of there without getting caught. I walked down the alley to the vault where most valuable equipment is kept, and not everyone is allowed in, but because of my status, I entered as pleased when my father was around.
"Afternoon, sir," a young lady by the door greeted me, bowing down before opening the door for me.
"Thank you", I said walking into the room.
*Our vault was like a small museum, I still remember when I used to come here with my father. The book was a valuable relic, and only three people knew about it apart from my father, and that was my false brother and his bitchy assistant and me. The fact they kept it here means they wanted to turn the people against my father, and since my father isn't here anymore all that hate would be directed towards me. Security was very tight here, with security cameras set at every angle and each piece of equipment placed in a space that would trigger an alarm, including the book, which I have finally found.
*Having found the book, it's now left for me to create a distraction, and setting off a fake alarm would do, I walked around the room pretending to be looking at the hugged photos and turning my back on the cameras pushed the fire alarm and it rang throughout the room with everyone panicking*
*Perfect, taking advantage of the situation, I broke the glass containing the book, snuck it into my bag, and joined the others exiting the room. I knew that they would find out it was a false alarm soon, so I had no time*.
*I started running through the exit, and an announcement stopped me on my trail*.
"Attention all members of TLO, it appears the Time book has been stolen. All guards are to make sure no one enters or leaves this facility; I repeat, no one should be allowed to enter nor leave until further notice", the reporter said as footsteps could be heard marching towards my direction.
*Everyone was inspected and searched accordingly with Jordan as the supervisor. They came to me, and for some seconds, I panicked but was prepared for whatever was to happen*.
"Do not search him, there's no way our leader would steal from his people", Jordan said waving to the guards to move on to the next person.
"Am I right Gray?"Jordan said, whispering into my ears with a voice that creeped me out.
"Yes, I was just observing and amazed that someone would steal such a valuable asset; I'm glad that you're the one in charge of the search; excuse me then," I said as I walked out of the search area.
*Halfway through the exit, another announcement was made*.
"It seems like our camera was able to get some suspicious footage of who could be the thief, it is quite unbelievable but based on what we have here it seems like the criminal was Gray Wright our leader", the announcer said as the footage of gray putting the book into his bag was shown for everybody to see*
*Hearing that I increased my pace and ran towards the exit, the crowd was already in confusion and some were doubting it but the footage made them believe, soldiers were sent out all around the base and luckily the person guiding the exit I was running to was a friend of mine, he was confused as I pushed him away*.
*He had heard the news but refused to believe it and was sorry that I had to leave*.
"Please come back someday and clear your name, Gray", Tom said as tears ran through his eyes.
"I will," I said as I jumped into the travel machine with the destination set at random.
