Chapter 1: The charity event

LEXI'S POV

I am Alexandra Thompson who everyone knows as a beautiful and intelligent young lady in her twenties, reginald winchester's trophy girlfriend a clever business man. He has a very tight grip on me and he controls practically my whole life.

Our relationship is like one of master and servant, he always uses every opportunity to disregard me, He looks down on my wants and ambition and cares less about my feelings.

I have lost almost all contacts with friends because he wants me to depend wholly on him.

The main reason i agreed to be subjected to such pain is because of my mother hospital fee that cost much money than i could afford but now that my mother is very much strong again,I can't leave.

I have become a prisoner of this beast

Reginald is very possessive of me and it's suffocating, I am always walking on eggshells around him.

The only person I am allowed to meet is my mother and I am usually accompanied by three guards.

The day to the charity gala was approaching,a day when people of high class gather to show off their wealth under the pretext of charity donation.

"Ma'am your evening gown is ready and we were given instructions to get u ready for tonight"

I was called out of my thoughts by one of the maids and then I looked at the bed where the gown was laid.

"It's beautiful" was all I could mutter.

"Yes my lady it's really beautiful and it will suit you".

The maid seconded and all I could do was to give a mild smile.

"I will call u when I am done taking my bath"

I finished up with my bath wiped myself and dried my hair.

"you can come upstairs". I spoke to the maid through the speaker created for such purposes.

The door opened and some maids entered with a lady a little bit advanced leading them.

They came in with some accessories and an extensive makeup kit all to doll me up for the evening.

I presume that the woman who came with them was the makeup artist.

" I am lady jane and I am your..." "Let's begin". I interrupted as it is of no importance to me.

I laid back and she then began her work on my face, I slept off and did not know when she was done.

"Miss, i'm done".

I opened my eyes and I could not recognize who I saw in the mirror,she was so beautiful and perfect.

I got up and I slipped into the gown with the help of the maids,my heels were put on for me by the maids,I practically did nothing.

After the whole accessories were put on me and my purse handed to me, I proceeded to go down the stairs to the front of the house where reginald was waiting for me.

But maybe I was misinformed,because as I turned to face the stairs, he was there looking at me like he saw a ghost.

I descended the stairs until I came face to face with him.

"U look so different and beautiful today, it's such a pity".

I could not understand what he meant by such a pity. I hooked my arms with his as he escorted me to the car.

We arrived at the magnificent bellevue mansion located at the middle of a very beautiful estate in an affluent community.

The car came to a stop in front of the red carpet, reginald came down came over and opened the car door for me to come down acting as a gentleman that he was not.

We walked the red carpet together as light flashed from the cameras.

We submitted our invitation card to the man at the entrance,we were given a manual containing the particular order tonight's event will take place.

"Yo old mate,lexi your looking stunning as always,welcome to the party". James the host of the show complimented us.

"You look impeccable yourself" I complemented him back.

"James i see you really out did your self this time,the decor is superb".

" Thanks reginald".

I played my role his perfect partner all through out the time we greeted the guest, but I needed to breath.

Just then sophia saved the day. "Hey lexi why don't we take a fresh air out the balcony".

"Yes of course". I excused my self from reg and followed her.

"Thanks"

"No problem,I just saw u needed it".

"Reg can be difficult and a little bit selfish at times,but trust me he will come to understand you". Sophia stated and gave me a mild and reassuring smile.

I smiled back.she could never understand that reg is a beast and not some difficult man.

"Lexi,aren't you done taking your fresh air?". His voice sounded from behind and I so dreaded it.

At this time sophia had already excused herself and I was all alone with him.

He stretched his hands for me to take his hand and I did trying to hide the facts that my hands were shaking from him.

I followed him inside,returning to all with fake smiles on their face.

He left my side and climbed the stage like he had an announcement to make,my heart were beating so fast and I could not explain why.

It was of relieve and happiness like,I would soon be free, but in the most disgracing way.
