Chapter 4

LEXI'S P.O.V.

I took the elevator to the 10th floor, walked to the door of the flat, put in my password and then entered the house. I thought that my mother and house maid would have gone to sleep but to my surprise the maid was still up doing somethings in the kitchen.

"Miss".

"Shhhh, you might wake her up, and don't worry about me, I'm going to bed". I said as I entered the room and locked the door.

I pulled my clothes, entered the bathroom and washed my self clean. Under the shower, the scenes from earlier at the party came rushing back. I just had to make Reginald pay for everything he had done.

I came out cleaned my body and wore a night wear and got myself tucked in, I tried planning for my next course of action and did not know when I slept.

I woke up feeling light and happy for the first time in a while, I took my bath, brushed my teeth and wore any comfy clothes I could find in the wardrobe.

I got in the kitchen and decided to make breakfast, I cracked my eggs and fried them, I fried my bacon also as the house maid did the chores.

The door opened and my mum came out.

"Lex when did u come".

" I came in yesterday, I didn't want to disturb you so I did not wake you". I said as I held her hands.

"Mom come over here". I pulled her towards the dinning. "I made bacon and egg, have a taste".

She took a bite from it. "How does it taste?". I looked at her in anticipation.

"It's real nice, it's been a long time since I ate your food".

"You would be eating eat more often, because I'm not going anywhere". I said expecting her to be at least happy but she wasn't and she also wasn't eating.

She looked at me with watery eyes, "why did you do it". She asked out of the blue.

"Why did I do what?". I asked in fear of what she could be talking about.

She started crying, "why did you have to become a mistress for my sake".

I was stunned, how did she find out about it, but I still tried to feign ignorance. "Mom what are you talking about, what mistress".

"Don't you dare lie to me". She looked at me fiercely with tears in her eyes, then I decided to come clean.

"Mom I can explain, I'm very sorry all I did was for our lives to become better".

When I went over to that man's house(her father), he won't help saying his company was in a tight spot but sent his daughter abroad and then I decided to work as a maid without a job description and a very poor salary. I just had to take it when it came,

"I'm sorry". I said as I burst out in tears.

"It's okay, I don't blame you". She hugged me and tapped my back, "everything will be okay".

I told her all that happened from the time I went over to my father's house to my life at Reginald's house while skipping the abusive part, to yesterday's charity gala. I assured her that I was good.

I then decided to get my life back on track and I decided to start by catching up with my bestie.

"Hello, pls who's this". Stephanie's voice rang out from the phone.

"Try to guess".

"Lexi is that you".

"Who else would it be".

"Lexi it's been such a long time what happened". She sounded worried.

"Let's meet up,my treat and then I will tell you everything".

"Okay".

So we agreed to meet up and I can't wait to see how she is now. I freshened up, wore my undies, Polo, my jeans trouser and my sneakers, I wore my necklace, bracelet and ear rings.

I put on my perfume, I restyled my hair and muah I was looking stunning and ready to go out.

BILLIONAIRE DESMOND'S P.O.V

The door opened and my secretary entered the room. "Sir, your grand parents are calling". He said as he handed the phone over to me

I took the phone from him, "I told you to stop trying to hook me up with ladies, I have a girlfriend and we are about to sign our wedding, I will bring her the next time i am coming. Love you too".

I pressed the both side of my forehead, i was being pressured by my grand parents to get a wife, I was always going on blind dates for it despite my busy schedule.

I had to get someone to act as my wife to at least reduce the pressure from my grand parents and I needed her quick.

I turned to look at Markus and gave him the phone, I sat back on my chair and thought a bit on how to make the lie come true.

"I need someone to act as my wife for some years, look for anyone who is ready to take this offer, make sure her background, health status and criminal record is checked and I will need her by the month end". I instructed Markus.

"Ok sir, I will do just that". He gave a little bow and left my office.
