Starting the Attack

After knowing what we are up against, Jack conveys the same to the soldiers and Tariq via hand signals. Being archers, Tariq and Vimal are at the center of the formation with me and Jack at the front as scouts.

Once receiving the information, the two elite soldiers and jack spread evenly out of the formation and into the forest. I hear a few metal slashing the flesh sounds around us. After a few minutes, they come back confirming the perimeter is secure and we can continue.

We also find another squad consisting of one elite and four soldiers in the afternoon who were ambushed by the pigmen, but were able to kill them all with minor injuries, thanks to their team's elite.

With the addition of squad, we currently have fourteen people including three elite soldiers which is more than enough to attack the camp and destroy it. We just need to hasten ourselves to reach the small camp at night so we can start the attack.

The scouts have reported that the pigmen have troubled sight at dawn which is why we have decided to attack the them when they are at a disadvantage with one of their sense weak so we will be able to take care of them with ease.

We move as fast we we can with cautious to not alert our foe of our presence which will make them prepare for our attack. Then it will become a siege with us being the attackers and will be hard for us to eliminate them without casualties. I keep my focus in the surroundings at the fullest as I don't want to make the same mistake by getting distracted again.

We also eliminated a few pigmen patrols on the way as we do not want to be attacked from behind. The elites make a quick work of them every time we come across a patrol within minutes.

This helped us to get close to the small camp before nightfall. We decided to take rest a while so we will be at our full strength when we attack them at dawn. It was also required to us, the newbies in the dungeon to get some rest before the attack as we were walking the whole day without food, only with water.

Jack and another elite has gone out to scout the area for a suitable place for us to sleep without getting noticed by the pigmen. We are just hiding behind the trees looking at the small camp to find any weakness in its defense to exploit them later.

I can see the camp from the trees that are 20 meters high as there are no walls surrounding the camp, but just a fence that can be easily broken by a Mid-E grade soldier which is most of our fighting force except for me, Vimal and Tariq. We need to find a way to eliminate this camp without suffering heavy casualties as it is only the first step in clearing this dungeon to prevent the outbreak.

Once we clear this camp, we will have to keep moving to the center of the dungeon to regroup with the other squads before we attack the large camp where the boss of this dungeon will be. Only killing him will stop the outbreak and will make this dungeon disappear when the duration ends after twelve days.

Even after monitoring the camp for two hours, I didn't find any weaknesses in their defense for us to utilize tomorrow. There are pigmen soldiers patrolling around the fence both inside and outside with a regular interval which is the only way for us to enter the camp before alerting everyone in the camp.

Jack and the other elite return to our lookout place with a serious expression on their faces as they were unable to find any discrete location for us to camp for the night. With that, our resting plan gets smashed as half of the soldiers should be awake to keep watch for the patrols and to make sure we are not exposed to the enemy camp which will be the end of us.

Some of the soldiers along with myself and Vimal take the first watch which will cover for three hours for the rest of them to take rest. After that we will get to rest till dawn just before we attack.

We are expecting heavy patrols at night as that is when most of the sieges of the high intelligent species tend to start as it will be when the enemies can be caught off guard, so we equip ourselves with as much as potions we can and focus on the surroundings to make sure we are not spotted.

But to my surprise, I don't sense any patrols coming near us or can see coming in or out of the camp from the tree branch I am standing. There are only patrols around the fence, but nothing else. I haven't seen any monsters inside the dungeon from the moment I entered which feels weird while roaming inside a forest for a whole day.

After the end of our watch, I get down from the tree and close my eyes slouching against the same tree to get the rest and relaxation I need to fight.

I wake up to a wild shaking from Vimal as I dozed off a little longer than our allocated time to rest and all of them are almost ready to start the attack except for me, but I got the rest my mind needed to function properly as I was using it the most throughout the day to sense the surroundings.

I immediately drink the little water I have in my backpack to refresh myself and get ready to start the attack on the camp. With all fourteen of us ready, we just have to wait for the signal from Jack or one of the elites to start the attack.

After a few minutes, one of the elites looked at Jack and other elites who gave a nod to him. He looked at us and with a simple nod in a commanding voice says "Begin.
