Ramiel thought for a long time about his conversation with Alexia and came to a disturbing conclusion. The Charlatan's Mask wasn't as perfect as he assumed. The artifact couldn't negate or distort the unique odor produced by humans.

Usually, this wasn't a problem. Ninety-nine coma nine percent of hunters would be unable to detect something so abstract and prone to distortion. But this was where scouts with heightened senses, like Alexia, came into play.

This time, things weren't far from going really badly. Fortunately, over the past year, his scent had been transformed, making it similar to the original but not perfect. At least, that's what the former hunter deduced from her words. Otherwise, he doubted whether Alexia would have let him go. After all, humans could imitate a similar scent, but not the same one. It was physically impossible unless one was a lab-bred clone, but even then, there would be subtle differences.
