"Now you can choose quests, and after completing enough, you'll be able to upgrade your adventurer rank," the receptionist added before returning to her desk.

Malenia already knew about the quests and upgrading system from Rick's information, so she directly asked her new party to choose a quest related to forests and monsters.

She was glad she had joined the party; now she could potentially benefit from their hard work, like slaying monsters, while she learned from them for free.

"You want a quest related to monsters? But this is supposed to be your first quest. Don't be too hasty. Even if we are together, the forest is always unpredictable; anything can happen there," the leader, Reltih, explained.

"Don't worry, with you guys around, I'll be safe, and I have my fair share of hard experiences," Malenia replied, staring at the male members of the party to see if any reacted oddly.

Surprisingly, one did react, but it wasn't the male members. Instead, the female, Mollorie, chuckled while shaking her head at Malenia's reply as if she had said something amusingly naive.

This confirmed Malenia's suspicion: there was really something odd with this group. She had deliberately said *I'll be safe with them* to see if any of them would show an odd reaction if they found her statement ironic.

'But it doesn't matter. I'll just benefit from them, and when they show their true intentions, it won't be a problem since I already have many ways to get out of trouble.'' Malenia thought, recalling when she used the coins from her first birth reward in the system's shop.

After getting confirmation from Malenia, Reltih chose a quest to kill some kobolds spotted near the outskirts of the forest.

The goblin slayer party agreed to divide 20% of the rewards among each member after completing the quest.

They decided to walk toward the quest location since adventurers' physical capabilities were higher than normal humans, allowing them to cover several miles without tiring.

While walking, Malenia finally decided to ask the question that had been lingering in her mind ever since she learned the party's name.

"So, guys, why did you name this party 'Goblin Slayer'? Do you hate goblins that much?" Malenia asked.

There were many monsters in the wild, and goblins were the most common and weakest—making Malenia wonder why they would specifically choose "Goblin Slayer." She disliked the name, maybe because she had a goblin daughter.

To Malenia, goblins weren't scary or evil; they looked just a little different from humans, with their small height and slightly unusual faces by human standards.

They seemed more like adorable little creatures. Still, Malenia reminded herself that she hadn't seen any wild goblins yet—they might be very different from Gob or Gobi.

"Well, it's not that complicated. We were on a quest when we met Mollorie, who was in danger, surrounded by goblins, so we rescued her," Reltih explained.

Then he added, "Afterward, Mollorie asked to join us so she could have her revenge on goblins. And we agreed to help her for free."

"Oh..." Malenia nodded, though she felt that just getting surrounded by goblins wasn't enough for someone to seek revenge. She suspected something more must have happened that they weren't sharing.

She didn't dwell on it any further and simply walked on, following the others into the forest...
