Chapter Eighteen: Daniel

Nothing made sense any longer, Daniel was thinking as Nora braided his thick hair.

She was braiding his hair into cornrows, mostly because she didn’t want him to get killed because his hair got in the way.

He had laughed at that, although he was worried that she’d damage his thick, curly hair first. But he was relieved when he saw that she had a wooden, wide-tooth comb and sulfate-free mousse

Daniel’s hair had grown several inches since he had become an Angel, and he now had a veritable Afro, instead of just short, curly hair.

He felt a pang of sadness when he first looked at himself in the mirror. His afro made him look almost like his maternal grandfather in Jamaica. Aside from the stark, shocking white hair, of course.

“So, how are you feeling?” Nora asked him while doing his hair.

Ryan’s mother had been helping him a lot in the two days he had been in the Cashel pack compound.
