Chapter Forty-Two: Catra

8 months later

It was a bright morning in June when the O’ Connor baby naming ceremony took place.

It was not quite summer yet, and the morning was still cool enough to be comfortable.

Everyone who Nora and Ryan had invited had shown up the night before and were being hosted in the Cashel pack compound.

Catra and Daniel had also invited guests, and they were both waiting anxiously to see if their respective guests would show up.

Catra turned away from the window and went over to the bassinet where her daughter lay, sleeping.

Ava had been fussing all day, unable to settle down, as though she knew that she was the center of attention for the day.

Daniel sat down at the window seat, looking out at the green fields of North Mayo. The only place in the compound where portals could be made.

“What are we going to do if they don’t come?” Catra asked from where she sat, stroking Ava’s head. Her daughter was only five months old, but her werewolf genes had overridden everything else.
