The next morning, Hannah woke up to a new day, her thoughts still swirling from the events of the previous night. As she moved about the room, Julie knocked and entered, informing her that Adrian's parents were coming over. Hannah nodded and proceeded to the bathroom to get ready.
Meanwhile, Adrian had come home and, searching for Hannah, asked Julie about her whereabouts. Julie directed him to their room, where Adrian found himself seated on the bed, sifting through his office files. Hannah, having just bathed, had left her dress on the table beside the bed. Wrapped in a towel, she stepped out of the bathroom, unaware that Adrian had arrived.
As Hannah emerged from the bathroom, her bare feet sinking into the soft carpet, she absentmindedly removed the towel wrapped around her head, letting her long, damp hair cascade down her back. She stood by the vanity mirror, her back to the bed, unaware that Adrian was seated there, engrossed in his office files.
Hannah, still adjusting her hair, shook her head slightly to release the remaining water droplets. A few stray drops flew through the air, landing on Adrian's face. Startled by the sudden cool sensation, he wiped his cheek and looked up, his expression shifting from confusion to sharp focus. His gaze locked onto Hannah.
His face, at first showing mild surprise, quickly changed. His eyes darkened as he took in the sight of her standing there, wrapped in a towel, her damp hair falling in soft waves. His jaw tightened, and an unreadable intensity settled in his expression, his piercing gaze following her every movement.
Unaware of his presence at first, Hannah ran her fingers through her wet hair, shaking out the last of the moisture. Then, as she turned slightly towards the bed, she caught sight of Adrian staring at her. Her eyes widened in shock, her breath catching as their gazes locked.
In a moment of panic, she tried to cover herself with the towel, but her foot slipped on the polished floor. Adrian caught her instinctively, and they both found themselves in a close embrace. Their faces were inches apart, creating a charged silence. Hannah quickly snapped out of her daze, pushed Adrian away, and retreated, her face flushed with embarrassment and anger.
"Don't you have any sense? How can you just barge into the room without knocking? This is absolutely unacceptable!" Hannah shouted, her voice trembling with indignation.
Adrian, maintaining his composure, responded coolly, "This is my room, Hannah. I'll come in whenever I want. And I'll touch my wife whenever I choose. Remember that."
Fuming, Hannah grabbed her dress and stormed towards the bathroom. Adrian stopped her, holding out a beautifully designed dress. "Wear this. My parents are coming over, and I want my wife to look presentable."
Hannah snatched the dress from Adrian's hands and stormed into the bathroom. The deep sapphire blue gown was stunning, with intricate lace detailing along the neckline, a fitted bodice, and a flowing skirt that shimmered subtly with every step. However, the back of the dress was complicated, with far too many ropes and ties to manage on her own.
Inside the bathroom, Hannah wrestled with the ropes, trying to fasten them behind her back. She pulled at the tangled strings, but it was impossible to tie them without help. Frustration set in as she realized she couldn't do it alone.
Outside the door, Adrian called out in an impatient tone, "How long will you take? My parents are already here."
Hannah peeped out from the bathroom door, biting her lip in frustration. "Adrian, I don't know how to wear this."
Adrian folded his arms and leaned against the doorframe, his eyes calm but slightly amused. "Come out, and I'll help you."
"No!" Hannah protested instantly, her cheeks flushed. The idea of Adrian helping her with something so intimate made her skin prickle with unease.
Adrian sighed and rolled his eyes. "How long are you going to take, Hannah? My parents are waiting."
Annoyed, Hannah muttered, "Don't take advantage of this situation."
Adrian raised an eyebrow, his expression shifting to amusement. "Don't flatter yourself."
Hannah, feeling exasperated and with no other choice, finally emerged from the bathroom. The dress was half on, the ropes hanging loosely and tangled behind her. Adrian's eyes softened as he took in the sight of her struggling. Without another word, he stepped forward and began to assist her, his hands moving skillfully as he tied the intricate knots and fastened the ropes with precision.
As he worked on the ties, his fingers brushed against her back, sending an unexpected shiver down Hannah's spine. Their faces were close, their breaths mingling as the air between them thickened with an unspoken tension. Each tie seemed to draw them nearer, the proximity making Hannah's heart race.
Just as Adrian was finishing the last tie, his phone rang from the nearby dressing table. His hands were still occupied with the ropes, so without looking up, he said, "Can you get that?"
Hannah hesitated but then reached for the phone. As she turned around to hand it to him, she realized how close they had become. Their faces were mere inches apart, eyes locking in an intense, wordless moment. The atmosphere was charged, both of them caught in the electricity of their proximity.
The phone continued ringing in her hand, but for a brief second, it felt like time had slowed down as they looked at each other, their unspoken emotions hanging in the air.
