Chapter 32: The Best Decision

When Wade returned to his dormitory, he was surprised to find an unexpected visitor—a house-elf wearing a tea towel stood in the middle of the room, its gray-green eyes staring unblinkingly at him, giving him quite a start.

Wade almost cast a spell in reflex but relaxed once he recognized the visitor. "Zoe? What are you doing here?"

House-elves usually take pride in not appearing before their masters, so apart from the kitchen, Wade had never seen any of Hogwarts' house-elves appear in his line of sight.

Zoe twisted her slender fingers, clearly feeling awkward. She said softly, "Wade Grey didn't have dinner. Zoe is a bit worried. Zoe knows she shouldn't have appeared, but she came anyway. Zoe wants to know if Wade Grey is feeling unwell."

"I'm fine," Wade crouched down to say. "It's just that the troll smelled so bad, I lost my appetite."

Zoe said earnestly, "But not eating is bad for your health. Wade Grey gave Zoe a gift, which she liked very much, and she is also very concerned about Wade Grey's health and doesn't want him to be hungry."

It was quite interesting to hear the house-elf speak, as it always referred to itself and others in the third person, even in direct conversation.

Wade looked at Zoe, who had a tiny pumpkin carriage hanging at her waist, with the lantern inside flickering.

"Alright," he sighed. "Can you bring me some fruit? Just fresh fruit, not made into jam or pudding. I'll have some fruit and then go to bed after I've had a shower."

"Certainly, sir!" Zoe said happily, nodding, and with a snap, she disappeared from the room.

When Wade emerged from the bathroom, still steamy from his shower, he saw a basket of fruit on the table—apples, pears, bananas, a few strawberries, and a bunch of bright green grapes, all clean and glistening with water droplets.

Wade picked up an apple and took a bite. It was juicy and satisfying, and he felt a deep sense of appreciation.

In his previous life, his mother had insisted on a healthy diet, believing that one should eat twelve different foods daily to provide the body with sufficient nutrition, with fruits and vegetables being particularly important. Sometimes, there would be no repetition for a whole month.

Since his rebirth, although the food at Hogwarts was much more sumptuous than at home, it was mostly roasted meats and desserts, with very few vegetables and monotonous cooking methods. Fresh fruits had never appeared on the long tables.

At that moment, Wade made a decision: after graduation, he wanted to go see the East—magic may be the wing of miracles, but his future lies in the East.

Moreover, in this world, there are also mystical powers there, and perhaps he might see some more wondrous sights.

….

Padma's integration into the SSC was very smooth; no one raised any objections.

After all, not only was she smart and graceful, but she was also quite beautiful, with deep, expressive eyes that made Theo and the others blush slightly without even realizing it.

Hermione, on the other hand, spent more and more time studying, as Wade had put a lot of pressure on her.

During the recent Transfiguration class, Wade successfully transformed a mouse into a beautiful little teapot, with such delicate lines that it looked like a newly placed item on a shelf.

Professor McGonagall praised Wade's Transfiguration skills loudly, saying that he was now at a level that could earn him an "O" in the end-of-term exams.

Hermione also knew that Wade's owl had brought him a complete set of The Standard Book of Spells and Intermediate Transfiguration from Diagon Alley.

Despite being the best first-year student in Gryffindor, Hermione felt she was falling behind, and her frustration led her to be irritable and snap at Ron several times—ever since she knocked out the troll, Ron had stopped complaining and didn't talk behind her back.

Now Ron actually looked forward to Hermione giving him advice, as he realized she was always right.

Hermione had even started to correct her tendency to be overly teacher-like; she tried to overlook various rule-breaking actions among the Gryffindors, which slightly improved her standing within the house. Especially with Harry, they had become something like friends.

Wade almost heard Hermione's complaints every day: "We had a whole weekend to do the assignment, and he only managed to write a title! When it was time to submit the work, he panicked and asked—'Hermione, please let me copy your homework!'"

"Did you let him copy?" Wade asked while writing.

"Of course not!" Hermione wrinkled her nose in disdain. "What's the point of letting him copy? But I promised to help him check it after he finished!"

"But Hermione—" Padma asked in confusion, "Doesn't that make things more troublesome for you?"

Hermione looked at her incredulously. "That's how you learn!"

The two girls exchanged glances and, after a moment, they tacitly decided to skip the topic.

When Padma finished her assignment, only Neville was still struggling with his pen. She tucked the parchment into her bag and walked briskly around the partition wall—

Recently, Wade had added a sky-blue partition in the Umbrella Room to prevent those practicing spells from disturbing the ones doing homework. The room was divided into two sections with a soundproofing charm in the middle.

On the other side, the classroom had two rows of targets, most of which were quite worn out, with damage that even Mending Charms couldn't fix, but they still served their purpose.

The entire end wall was covered with mirrors, which Wade said would help them correct their actions at any time.

Michael repeatedly used Incendio (Fire-Making Spell) to set the target on fire and then extinguished it with Aguamenti (Water-Making Spell)

Theo took turns using Diffindo (Severing Charm) and Reparo (Mending Charm) to torment his target.

Hermione was using the Tarantallegra (Dancing Feet Spell) on a spider, making its long legs flail wildly in the air.

Ryan was casting Petrificus Totalus (Body Freezing Spell) on a gray mouse that was peeking out.

The mouse's body suddenly stiffened, with only its tail twitching slightly. After a moment, it darted off, and with a "thud," it turned into a small twig mid-air.

"Body Freezing Spell—when casting this spell, you should draw a circle with your wrist as the center, and make the turns sharply and quickly."

Wade waved his wand, making the twig float in the air. He then pointed his wand at it, and the twig turned back into a mouse.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Wade demonstrated once, and suddenly the mouse's claws and tail were pressed against its body, as hard as a wooden board, with its black eyes seemingly showing fear.

It fell to the ground with a "thud," as if it were a stone.

Wade lifted the spell, letting Ryan continue practicing, and then walked over to Padma, asking, "Do you want to learn Sliding Spell first, or practice other spells?"

"Um—" Padma stuck out her tongue and said embarrassedly, "Actually—my Reparo isn't very reliable—"

She waited for Wade to make a "this is a big problem" face, but he simply tapped the nearby target with his wand, and it immediately cracked open in the middle.

Wade said, "Then let's start with Reparo. Let me see your current skill level."

Padma's arm trembled slightly as she raised her wand.

—She suddenly realized that she might have made one of the best decisions since starting school.

I am sure I will learn a lot here!

"—Reparo!"
