[Wade: Landon Johnson might be a problem. Dad, please don't interact with him anymore!]
Wade quickly scribbled this message in his Book of Friends, and then immediately reached out to Lupin and asked him to protect his parents.
Within seconds, replies began to appear in the book:
[Fred: Why are you suddenly saying this... Did you also hear about Annie's death?]
[Lupin: Understood. I'm heading over right now.]
[Fred: Dumbledore checked Landon's memories and didn't find anything suspicious. They think Annie may have seen something she shouldn't have while gathering information, which made her a target.]
[Lupin: I'm at the Grey house now. The door is locked, and there's no one inside. Are Mr. and Mrs. Grey not at home?]
[Fiona: Dear, we're perfectly safe, so don't worry. But you, take a break during your days off! Go ride a broomstick with your classmates for a while!]
[Lupin: There's a bit of dust on the doorknob; they've been gone for at least two days. They left in a hurry—there's a cup of coffee on the table, and it's gone cold.]
[Fred: Remember what I told you? Don't get involved in these dangerous matters. Sure, even babies in the wizarding world can become saviors, but if every problem needs a kid like you to solve, then our world is truly doomed.]
[Lupin: Don't worry yet; it doesn't necessarily mean something bad happened. I'll contact Sirius and Professor Dumbledore now.]
Messages from both sides kept appearing on the parchment in rapid succession. Wade barely had time to process one before another surfaced.
But the conflicting information made Wade's blood run cold.
He picked up his quill, hesitated for a moment, and wrote on the 'Family' page:
[Are you both at home right now?]
New messages appeared:
[Fred: No, we moved out.]
[Fred: As a precaution, Dumbledore found us a bodyguard—a retired Auror who's apparently quite formidable.]
[Fred: But he has a peculiar temperament and refuses to leave his familiar surroundings, so we temporarily rented a house next to his.]
Wade let out a long sigh of relief, though his back was already damp with cold sweat.
He quickly informed Lupin about his parents' relocation to prevent unnecessary worry. Then, he asked:
[Wade: Who is that retired Auror? I asked Remus to help protect you, and he went to our house but didn't find anyone there—it scared me to death.]
He couldn't help adding a bit of a complaint at the end.
[Fiona: Sorry, Wade. We didn't want you worrying about us while at school, so we didn't tell you about the move. If nothing happens, we'll definitely be back before summer vacation.]
Fiona added a tongue-out emoji, like she was making a playful face.
[Fred: Don't blame your mom—this was my idea too.]
[Fred: The Auror's name is Alastor Moody. His temperament may not be great, but every scar on him is a badge of honor. He's our neighbor now, and I trust no Dark wizard could appear on this street without him noticing.]
[Fiona: Though he is a bit paranoid. When we first met, he was convinced the dolls you sent us were disguised assassins and told us to throw them away.]
[Wade: ...Assassins?]
[Fiona: Yes, isn't it absurd? We had to swear up and down not to let Coco and the others into his house before he finally agreed to let us keep them. He even told Dumbledore that if we got killed by the dolls, it wouldn't be his fault.]
It was clear Fiona was trying to stay objective, but her frustration was palpable.
Wade couldn't help but laugh.
Of course, he remembered Alastor Moody. While Moody didn't appear much in the original storyline, he was universally recognized as the strongest Auror.
Even though he was older, retired, and often considered paranoid, people saw him as eccentric rather than vulnerable.
With Moody living next to his parents, Wade felt much more at ease.
He also understood that if it weren't for Dumbledore's request, a retired hero like Moody, living in seclusion, would never agree to act as a bodyguard for two ordinary people.
Wade didn't overestimate his own importance, but he also didn't undervalue himself. He understood that Dumbledore's concern for the Greys' safety must have been well-founded.
Grateful, Wade accepted this protection, knowing he would repay this kindness someday.
[Wade: Dad, are you still going to work?]
[Fred: Most of my work can be handled online. For documents that need signing, Darren will bring them over.]
Darren was Fred's assistant, who usually helped with his work and occasionally drove Wade to school.
After a brief chat with his parents, Wade relayed Dumbledore's arrangements to Lupin, thanked him for his help, and apologized for his moment of panic.
[Lupin: There's nothing to apologize for. When it comes to family, anyone would be anxious. Honestly, I envy the bond your family has.]
[Lupin: And thanks to this, Sirius has finally stepped out of Grimmauld Place. He just heard about the situation and is now applying to Dumbledore to join the investigation.]
[Wade: Sirius? Is he doing okay? This matter might involve Dark wizards who kill without hesitation. If anyone lets their guard down, it could be dangerous.]
[Lupin: That's nothing new. We've fought the most dangerous Dark wizard in history. And having something to do might actually help Sirius recover.]
[Lupin: In fact, to make things easier, we've returned to Hogsmeade. You're welcome to visit and play on the weekend.]
[Wade: I'll pass on the playing. I want to focus on learning the Patronus Charm as soon as possible.]
[Lupin: The Patronus Charm? That's one of the most powerful and ancient defensive spells. It's quite challenging to learn.]
[Wade: I know. I've seen it mentioned in many ancient magical legends. It's effective against most Dark magic, which is why I want to learn it.]
[Lupin: Alright, starting this weekend, we'll work on the Patronus Charm.]
After a pause, Lupin added:
[Lupin: Don't put too much pressure on yourself, Wade. As long as we're still standing, we won't let you face any danger.]
Wade read that line and couldn't help but smile bitterly.
He knew there were always people willing to sacrifice themselves to protect others. But the people he could relied on while he is still weak—
Dumbledore, Lupin, Sirius, even Moody...
None of them made it to the end.
