Chapter 223: Ambushed

Discovered?

Hearing the voice, Bai Li Changqing's pupils contracted slightly.

Whoosh—

A cold flash appeared instantly before his eyes!

He swiftly drew his sword, Jiemie.

With lightning reflexes, he blocked the strike!

Clang—

The clash of weapons resounded, creating an intense reverberation. The shadowy figure that had attacked was sent flying backward.

Bai Li Changqing, too, was pushed back but quickly steadied himself.

Without hesitation, he turned and sped away from the scene.

"Where do you think you're going!?"

The martial artist who had attacked quickly recovered and chased after Bai Li Changqing, determined not to let him escape.

Bai Li Changqing, with a flick of his wrist, turned and unleashed a flurry of sword energy.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—

Blades of energy shot out like flashes of cold light, racing toward the pursuing martial artist.

Seeing this, the man's expression darkened. He frantically swung his weapon, desperately trying to fend off the incoming strikes.

Bang, bang, bang—

The sword energy slammed into his weapon, but he managed to block them all.

"Damn it!" the man cursed as he saw that when the sword energy dispersed, Bai Li Changqing had already vanished.

"Lin Zhong, what happened?" A middle-aged man flew over shortly after.

"Someone was observing the layout of the Marquis's estate," Lin Zhong said grimly. The earlier encounter had left him uneasy. The intruder had fled so quickly that he hadn't even been able to get a clear look at who it was.

"Who would dare?" The middle-aged man's face darkened.

"I couldn't see clearly. The person moved too fast, but it was definitely a man," Lin Zhong replied, shaking his head.

"We need to stay vigilant," the middle-aged man said sternly. "No one can be allowed to infiltrate the Marquis's estate."

"Understood," Lin Zhong nodded in agreement. However, as they were about to continue, the middle-aged man glanced at Lin Zhong's weapon and frowned.

"You should probably get a new weapon."

"Huh?" Lin Zhong was confused and instinctively looked at his own sword. His eyes widened in shock.

There was a sizable notch in his blade.

It was caused by the clash with that man's sword!

Meanwhile, in Ye Yaar's room, several black-clad martial artists stood menacingly, wielding long knives, their eyes cold and merciless.

"Did Ye Qinglian send you?" Ye Yaar asked coldly, glaring at them.

"It doesn't matter who sent us," the leader, a middle-aged man, sneered. "The key is, you won't be leaving here alive."

As he spoke, his long blade glowed with a sinister blue light.

Ye Yaar tightened her grip on her short dagger, her eyes filled with caution.

This is bad.

She hadn't expected to be discovered so soon, and given the strength of the men before her, there was no way she could fight them off.

"Goodbye," the middle-aged man sneered before swinging his blade toward her!

Ye Yaar's face paled, and she quickly raised her dagger to block the blow.

Clang!

The force of the strike sent her flying, her body crashing into the wall behind her.

Thud!

Ye Yaar spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Hahaha, you're finished," the man laughed darkly, preparing to deliver the killing blow.

Whoosh—

But just then, a black figure shot in through the window.

Clang!

The man's blade was blocked by a sword.

"Who are you!?" the man shouted in shock.

Looking down, he saw that his blade had been blocked by a long sword—and not only that, his blade now had a large notch in it!

The other attackers recoiled in surprise, turning their attention to the new arrival. It was a man dressed in black, wearing a bamboo hat and a black veil that obscured his face.

"Who are you?" they demanded.

The woman who had attacked Ye Yaar earlier instinctively took several steps back, her eyes fixed on the black-clad figure, noticing the terrifying killing intent radiating from his sword.

"Kill them all, right?" Bai Li Changqing asked indifferently.

"Be careful," Ye Yaar warned.

The moment her words left her mouth, Bai Li Changqing moved.

Whoosh—

In a flash, he darted toward the attackers.

"Watch out!" they yelled in unison.

Clang, clang, clang—

They barely had time to raise their weapons before they found their blades shattered in half, and in the next instant, several of the martial artists were sliced into pieces, their bodies falling lifelessly to the floor.

"It looks like there's still one Martial King left," Ye Fan noted after witnessing the quick massacre.

"You…!" The remaining Martial King stood trembling, staring at his broken sword and the corpses of his comrades. The terror in his heart was palpable.

In a matter of seconds, his allies had been slaughtered, and his prized sword shattered.

Bai Li Changqing gave him no chance to recover. With a cold smile, he lunged forward, aiming his sword for the man's heart.

Panicked, the Martial King turned and fled through the window, not even attempting to fight back.

"Trying to escape?" Bai Li Changqing sneered and swiftly followed.

The blood from the slain martial artists flowed through the air, drawn into Jiemie's blade as it absorbed the life force of the fallen.

"Impressive," Ye Yaar murmured, her eyes filled with awe. In that brief exchange, Bai Li Changqing had demonstrated overwhelming power.

"Damn it…"

The fleeing Martial King's face twisted in fear.

Was there a hidden protector watching over Ye Yaar all along? he thought, beginning to suspect he had walked into a trap.
