CHAPTER 10

"Is this my fault?" Alexandra sobs as she clings to Kama, desperately wanting answers. She has hated her husband all her life since he bought her at a slave market. She was only twelve then, and he was selling their children similarly by the time she was 24. She couldn't stop it. The moment she found out she was pregnant, she had already begun to fear for her children.

"No, no, it's not your fault... Boris did this to himself."Maybe if I had been a better wife and given him what he needed, he would have had to sell our girls. He sold them at 16, realizing they were still young enough to be groomed but old enough to have a body man desired. Smelling to old oligarchs as breeding stock once they became too old. It killed her to see her children go through this and now have her daughter watch her husband die. While part of her is glad Boris will die, she knows how confusing that will be. Mira never knew the evils of her father he hadn't planned to sell her but rent her out. To harvest her eggs and rent her out weekly to parties. She was so scared before Mira was born that she just wondered if it would be better to kill herself. To spare her child a lifetime of pain and suffering from having such a disgusting man as her father."Shhhh..." Alexandra shivers as she curls into Kama quietly. She wishes she had killed her husband in his sleep, but she was tasked to keep him alive. Ordered to do so by Viktor to torture his soul, and her reward was to serve him. Alexandra gasps as a wave of pleasure moves through her body, remembering the sense of feeling him inside of her. The way he gripped her hair and took her... her body trembles as she feels herself being squeezed harder. "Mira...""I know... I know... But she is safe there, I promise," Kama says."Safe... She is witnessing...""He has tried to strike her before. You weren't there, but he has tried to Mira before. He was given a final warning."Alexandra nods into Kama's shoulder, "He deserves this and much more. But does she?""No, she doesn't, but we can do nothing now. We know it is not allowed. Nothing can be done."Both flinch as a blood-curdling scream is heard as one most horrifying sounds either has ever heard. Both of them almost naturally curly tighter together as the sound continues as they each, in turn, have their sobs. Not seeing what is happening but knowing that a man, no matter how evil, is suffering horrifically.Alexandra hears the sound of a faraway voice as she is sobbing, only imagining the signs that Mira is witnessing. Terrified of the horrors Mira might witness and if it would change her. Change the sweet girl that she knows and loves into something unfeeling. She needs to do something. Anything to get her free.A harsh slap comes across her face as she bites her tongue, keeping the response from her lips. Wiping her eyes, she looks up in surprise, "Anika?""We need to get you out of here...""But Mira?""There's nothing we can do for her... We need to get you out of here. Come on, we need to go..."As much as she tries to resist, she feels herself pulled to her feet. She needed to go in, but she was commanded out. The tone Viktor had was unmistakable. Neither man nor woman spoke after he sent them for the board. She had only seen this once before, and the results were terrifying. g, and now, her husband is there for the second time, and she is worried she won't survive. Worried that Mira will see her father killed."Wait! You're new..." Alexandra says, hopefully not recognizing the girl standing before her."Uh... I don't plan to stay long.." Mandy says surprisingly, too honestly."Please save my daughter...""We are forbidden to go in," Kama advises."How would she ever know that? She wasn't in the room when this happened. I saw you pull her out long before it did. Please...""I can't; I am not trying to be here any longer than I must. I wasn't born for this. I am not a slave." Mandy says desperately."Please, just save her, and I will use every influence I have to protect you. Please I promise you, you will go free. Please save my little girl's soul..."
