Using the Ninja Cards

Su Hao leisurely returned to his courtyard, carrying the wooden box.

In the yard stood more than a dozen constables. Among them was a man with a bronze badge hanging from his waist, indicating his position as the chief constable in charge of the others.

He was quietly conversing with Constable Liu, as they would all be under Su Hao's command in the future and needed to establish good relationships.

As Su Hao entered the courtyard, the two quickly approached him. The other constables who had been chatting behind them swiftly lined up and greeted Su Hao together.

"Greetings, Deputy Chief Su!" Their voices rang out loudly.

"Hmm, Chief Wang, I didn't expect Chief Lu to assign you to me," Su Hao remarked, recognizing Chief Wang from his previous work with Lu Hao.

"Deputy Chief Su, please feel free to give us any tasks directly in the future," Chief Wang said respectfully.

"Very well. I have nothing for you at the moment, so you may all attend to your own affairs. Liu, how's the room preparation coming along?" Su Hao didn't intend to have the Capture Agency investigate the wooden box, so he dismissed Chief Wang and the others.

"Deputy Chief Su, your room is ready. I've even added some simple decorations," Constable Liu replied eagerly, leading Su Hao to the room he had chosen earlier.

Inside the room, there was a red-lacquered wooden desk, a large chair, and some basic office supplies. A screen had been set up, creating a resting area behind it for Su Hao's convenience.

"Not bad at all. You've been thoughtful, young man," Su Hao said, patting Constable Liu's shoulder.

"I'm here to serve you, Deputy Chief Su!" Constable Liu declared, as if making a vow.

"Alright, you may go about your business now. I'll call for you if I need anything. Oh, and when Su Ping arrives, let him rest in the room next door."

"Yes, sir!" Liu bowed and retreated, closing the door behind him.

Su Hao sat down in a chair and glanced at the wooden box in his hand before placing it on the table beside him.

"I need to send someone to investigate this," Su Hao thought to himself. He then opened his inventory and clicked on the card for the trio of low-level ninjas.

[Host, using the Low-Level Ninja Trio card. You have obtained three low-level ninjas.]

Whoosh!

Three ninjas appeared beside Su Hao, dressed in black robes and clothes, their mouths covered, wearing black hats, with long swords at their waists.

"We pay our respects, Master!" The three low-level ninjas knelt and bowed.

Su Hao looked at the three ninjas. He had initially thought they might be children, as many genin in anime are young, but these were actually adults.

Su Hao handed the wooden box on the table to the three ninjas and briefed them on the situation. He instructed them to find out who the box's owner was and locate the Blood brothers who had been in contact with the box the previous night.

"Notify me immediately when you find information about the Blood brothers!" Su Hao added, thinking that the Blood brothers were likely the ones who killed Wang Tong. Eliminating them would allow him to complete a mission.

"Yes, we'll depart at once!" the ninjas responded.

Poof!

The three turned into black smoke and vanished before Su Hao's eyes.

Reconnaissance, assassination, and information gathering were all ninja specialties. Although they were low-level ninjas, these tasks shouldn't be too difficult for them.

"This box was brought back by Lu Hao. He must know something about it. And he pushed all of Wang Tong's affairs onto Gu Xi'er's side. Could he be afraid of whoever was behind this?" Su Hao pondered, half-reclining in his chair.

After thinking for a while without reaching any conclusions, he decided to stop racking his brain.

"Never mind. I'll focus on completing the Wang Tong mission first. We'll deal with other matters when we have more leads," Su Hao thought to himself. He then closed his eyes for a brief nap while waiting for news.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi'er and her companions had arrived at Wang Tong's room to investigate. The actual investigation was being conducted by Purple Aunt and Green Aunt, who were with her, while she and Han Lu stood to the side.

"Young Miss, we can leave now," Green Aunt soon approached Gu Xi'er and said softly, having found some clues.

"Alright," Gu Xi'er replied without asking for details. She turned to Han Lu and cupped her hands in greeting, "Deputy Chief Han, we'll be going to attend to our business now."

"Thank you for your efforts, Miss Gu," Han Lu returned the gesture, watching as the three women left.

Once Gu Xi'er and her companions were out of sight, Han Lu's expression darkened, his eyes glinting coldly.

"I didn't expect the Green Wood Sword Sect to send people to investigate this matter. It seems they've already discovered something. Those Blood brothers are truly useless, leaving clues for others to find."

"Let's hope they can evade the Green Wood Sword Sect's pursuit," Han Lu muttered as he pulled out a purple hairpin from his robes. After examining it briefly, he quietly left the Capture Agency.

Outside the Capture Agency, Gu Xi'er and her two companions boarded a carriage.

"Green Aunt, what did you discover?" Gu Xi'er asked softly.

"I've locked onto the Blood brothers' aura. Give me some time, and I'll be able to locate them," Green Aunt replied.

"Find them as quickly as possible. We'll eliminate these two, but we won't involve ourselves in their purpose for coming here," Gu Xi'er said with furrowed brows. She sensed that the situation was more complex than it appeared, so she decided to stick to the surface-level task.

The Blood brothers held average positions in the Blood Demon Cult's Northwest branch. Killing these two would teach the Blood Demon Cult a lesson, reminding them that the Northwest Prefecture was Green Wood Sword Sect territory.

As for delving deeper, that might lead to a confrontation between the Green Wood Sword Sect and the Blood Demon Cult's Northwest branch, which would likely result in casualties for the Green Wood Sword Sect. It was better to leave that to the Northwest Pacification Commission to handle.

"Understood," Green Aunt and Purple Aunt nodded in agreement. They also supported Gu Xi'er's decision.

Although the Green Wood Sword Sect didn't fear the Blood Demon Cult, the latter was a major evil sect from the South known for its ruthlessness and preference for underhanded tactics. Killing the Blood brothers as a warning was the most appropriate course of action.

At that moment, in a secluded courtyard in Fu City, the elder of the Blood brothers was examining a purple hairpin.

"Brother, this hairpin from Wang Tong's room is the only suspicious item we found. But to trace its owner through this hairpin, we'll likely need Old Ghost Li's help," the younger Blood brother said gravely.

"This is Old Ghost Li's territory, so we have no choice but to seek his assistance. However, it seems we might have been used by this Old Ghost Li," the elder Blood brother said, his eyes flickering uncertainly. They had initially hoped to complete this mission independently, but now they had to share it with Old Ghost Li.

"Let's go find Old Ghost Li immediately. We need him to locate the hairpin's owner quickly so we can complete the mission. I fear that the longer we wait, the more complications may arise," the elder Blood brother said coldly as he pocketed the hairpin.

With that, he stood up and headed for the small tavern, his younger brother following close behind.

Soon, they arrived at the tavern's entrance, only to find it tightly shut.

Crack!

The younger Blood brother violently pushed open the tavern door, revealing an empty interior.

"Brother, Old Ghost Li isn't here. Where should we look for him?" the younger Blood brother turned to ask his elder sibling.

"This is bad. We've been set up by Old Ghost Li," the elder Blood brother seemed to realize something and quickly grabbed his younger brother, pulling him out of the tavern.
