Chapter 1

I'm not going to the club"

"I'm not going to the club" I

whined as Mia grabbed my arm, pulling me out of the room.

"We won't stay long, I promise,"

Mia countered, not letting go of my arm.

After failed attempts, I got into

the back seat of the taxi and the car zoomed off to the club. The bass of the

loud music from the club and the alcohol filled air almost made me puke.

"Mia!" I complained glancing at her

angrily, but Mia was busy adjusting her bangs.

Few minutes after we had settled

in, a muscular young man approached me in my corner.

"Hey beautiful," he said sexily, licking

his lower lip.

 I ignored him, but he remained persistent. Mia

kept pinching my leg under the table, telling me to take it easy on him.

"Hey pretty, get up, let's dance!"

he pressed further reaching out for my hand.

Disgusted, I raised my hand and

landed a hot slap on his cheek.

"Don't you ever lay your hands on

me," I commanded, pointing in his pace.

"Ava!" Mia called rising up from

her seat.

I hissed loudly at them, grabbed my

drink and left. As I angrily stormed out of the club, I bumped into a hard

figure and the drink from the glass spilled on his shirt.

"I'm sorry," I pleaded as I

hurriedly removed the scarf wrapped around my neck, I reached out for the stain

in his chest, but my had immediately halted as I caught a glimpse of his face

in the dim blue light.

"Henry Leo?," I blurted in utter

disbelief. "I'm sorry, I truly am.." I stuttered, hitting my head with my right

palm. "Please pardon me."

Henry held out his palm and took a

few steps away from me. "I'll pardon you, under one condition, marry me!"

I froze on the spot, my heart

beating fast as if to jump

out of my chest. The moment he

uttered the word "marry me!" a mock laughter from nowhere escaped my lips.

"What did you just say?" I asked,

trying hard to caution my laughter as his face twisted with dread.

"You heard me right, by the way

what's funny?" he asked, tucking his hand in his pockets. "You clearly begged

me to pardon…."

"Excuse me young man," I

interrupted. "Just because you're Henry Leo and that I asked you to pardon me

doesn't mean you can order me around."

"If you don't want to accept them

be ready to face your punishment for incurring my wrath" he replied, turning

his back at me.

"You must have thought you're some

god, incur your wrath? That's so ridiculous," I blurted and stormed out of the

clubhouse.

I took my phone and called Mia "Hey

come out am ready to go home"

 She came outside and we left the club.

   Getting

home so tired and pissed, a call unsaved came in which I picked.

 "Congratulations miss Ava. You've gotten the

job as a secretary in T&M company. We would like you to resume on Monday

" oh alright ma I would gladly do

so"  I said so happily.

Getting the job made me so excited. It does worth the stress I went

through today. God isn't a bad person after all. Then I went to bed

It's Monday morning. I kept trying

the office wear I had over and over again. They were not really up to my taste anymore

but what can I do. That's what I have.

After putting on a white plane

shirt and a slim pink short skirt and put on my black heels.

Getting to the company made me

realized how hard I worked hard to get a job.

I walked into the the company.

Gazing at how big the company was. Looking at how clean and sharp employees

looks.

"Hello miss how may I help you?"I

heard someone saying behind me

I greeted immediately

"Good day ma'am. Am Ava charlotte."

"Oh the new employed secretary?"

She asked me

"Yes ma'am "

"Come with me "

then I followed her. She took me to

an office. She knocked at the door to announce what we were there for.

"Come in"  a man voice from the office.

"Be veery careful with the CEO.

Else you might get fired. Just go in and explain yourself to him

"Alright ma'am"

I opened the door and bowed down to

greet him. Raising my head back to him made me stutter

"Good da.....you???" I shouted

I got speechless. I never could

imagine the rude guy who asked me to marry him is the CEO of the company I will

be working for. Am I really going to be loosing this job again?

After all I said to him that night.

He might get me fired.

He smirked and look at me.

"Do what I asked for then I won't fire

you" he grinned while looking at me

I got so furious and told him

" just because you are the CEO of

this company does not mean I will do what you ask for "

I really don't know why I totally

forgot this was his company. Too much excitement made me forgot T&M was his

company.

"Aren't you looking for job because

your mother is in the hospital ? How are you going to pay the hospital bills if

you don't have a job?"

I was so dumbfounded

"Who are you? How did you know my

mother is sick? " I asked looking at his lip expecting him to give me an answer

to the question I asked him .

He smiled and told me he's

Capable of knowing all he's curious

about

He stood up and started walking

close to me. The same way my legs were going back till I got to the wall.

His hand above my head, then placed

his hand on the wall.

"Marry me then I pay your mother

bills" he said looking at me keenly.

I stuttered "I ...can…."

Then I remembered the doctor told

me to be fast with the payment so my mum could get the surgery as fast as

possible else she might give up the ghost.

" will you really pay my mother

surgery fee if I marry you?" I asked him looking at him

" I don't repeat myself I told you

that I will pay ".

"Okay let's do that " I said so

confidently.
