The silence stretched between us for a moment before she spoke. "Okay then."
Without hesitation, Luo Yan raised her hand, essence energy swirling around her fingers as she shaped it into a gleaming thorn. She pressed it against her palm, drawing a thin line across her skin. Blood welled up immediately, more than enough for what I needed.
I watched as the effort drained her, her face growing pale from the energy and blood loss. I reached into my spatial storage for one of the healing elixirs I'd crafted in the previous world. The small vial felt warm in my palm as I offered it to her.
"Here, drink this."
" What is this? Its not a pill?"
" Not pill, but elixir"
She accepted it without question, downing the contents in one gulp. Color returned to her cheeks almost immediately ~ the formula worked just as effectively in this realm as it had in the last world.
Of course my intent to do that revealed no flaw from LoHP, so that's why I did it. She was well within my scope, so her information was known.
Then pulled out the manual I'd written from the Tales of Demons and Gods world. Philosophy of Cultivation for dummies. It's just stories of protagonists getting into trouble I cooked up. I extended it toward her. "Consider this a gift. You must get terribly lonely up here, don't you?"
Her eyes widened slightly at the gesture, not knowing what my motive is.
I left her to examine her new treasure, making my way to the far end of the Star Heaven's formation. The information I'd gathered from the sect's archives just prior to entering here had given me insight into modifying arrays to work with heavenly energy, and I'd already begun implementing those changes.
The concealment formation settled around me like a second skin, hiding my presence from everyone except Luo Yan, who could move freely within this space unlike the other prisoners.
When she eventually came near me, settling quietly nearby with her new book clutched against her chest, I was already preparing for the next phase of my plan. The drops of blood essence gleamed in the starlight ~ first Luo Zheng's, then hers.
I started with her brother's blood, letting the crimson drops pool in my palm before absorbing them through my skin. The adaptable body responded immediately, the familiar sensation of change rippling through my cells as new characteristics merged with my existing bloodline. Both siblings carried the saint race lineage, extremely purified their bloodlines enriched by Luo Xiao's six pattern blood secret seed.
The essence of primordials like Chi Yue and Nuwa flowed through their veins, dormant but incredibly potent since birth.
The initial transformation was subtle ~ a strengthening of bone density, enhanced reflexes, several new veins for conducting essence channeling for the cultivation system here, sharper senses. But when I moved to Luo Yan's blood, everything changed.
The moment the liquid touched my skin, my body convulsed. The extreme purple yin physique information crashed into my system like a tidal wave, and my adaptable body did what it always did ~ it adapted. The transformation was immediate and dramatic. My frame shifted, muscles redistributing, bones reshaping themselves as my body took on feminine characteristics to properly accommodate the physique.
Luo Yan gasped audibly, her book tumbling from her hands as she stared at the woman now sitting where a man had been moments before. My hair had lengthened and lightened to the same pale purple as the siblings, and I could feel the slight power of the saint race bloodline flowing through my veins. My body is unraveling its dormant nature.
In all of this universe these two siblings originate from God's Domain in essence, so the previous adaptation to the rules of inner universe wasn't fully enough. Body adapted again.
The saint race ~ the legendary progenitors of all non humanoid and humanoid intelligent life in this cosmos. Their bloodline carried perfection in its purest form, extraordinary comprehension talent married to an overbearing physique that defied conventional limits.
My body started to maximize their potential constantly, pushing the purity of the bloodline beyond what even the siblings possessed. But it was not instant, it is gradually happening.
But Luo Yan's Nuwa bloodline was different from her brother's Chi Yu. Where Zheng's was root level, hers carried something deeper, a level higher. The adaptation process turned painful for the first time since I'd gained this ability. My body warped grotesquely ~ three heads sprouting from my shoulders, additional arms bursting from my torso, legs then converging to a tail lashing behind me ~ before condensing back into human form. The strength increase was substantial, though my cultivation realm remained unchanged.
I opened my eyes to find Luo Yan staring at me with a mixture of shock and fascination.
"Well," I said, my voice now distinctly feminine, "our pact is complete."
"No," she whispered, shaking her head slowly. "I feel... connected to you. As if you're my sister."
I corrected her. "Brother, actually. This form is only temporary." But when I tried to employ my usual transformation technique, nothing happened. A quick check revealed the truth ~ the purple yin physique's affinity for female gender was tied to the Dao itself, not mere genetics.
Given my current life level, I would remain in this form until I reached Great Perfection God realm or found the Immeasurable Ruler which could shift depends of physique on gender to ruler itself.
My carefully laid plans to become more straight had just become infinitely more complicated.
"Apparently not," I said with a rueful smile. "You can call me sister. The purple yin physique can only be acquired by women, and now I am one after assimilating it."
"Since you assimilated my bloodline, we are essentially siblings now," She continued, noting my conflicted expression with amusement.
"But let's keep this between us, shall we? I don't want your brother pestering me about making his sister bleed or trying to establish some grand connection. I can offer you soul elixirs in return ~ I know you can't use them because of Cui Xie, but you could give them to Zheng."
"Younger sister Xiao Tao?" she asked tentatively.
"I'm older than you," I protested.
"But you became our sibling after me, so you're younger," she reasoned with a smile. "Xiao Tao-er?"
The diminutive made me wince, but after some negotiation, she agreed to stop ~ though I doubted she'd keep her end of the bargain. And I don't plan to interfere in the first place.
"I'm going to cultivate here," I told her as I began setting up additional barriers. "You should rest elsewhere. I'll need to manipulate your elder again if he arrives, so please leave; that's easier without witnesses."
She nodded, her smile bright and genuine. "Okay, younger sister," she said meaningfully before departing with smirk.
I thought people in cultivation world are supposed to be very serious type. Well right now she ain't one.
Once alone, I activated the concealment formation using Creation energy, covering like a shield that would hide my activities from even divine perception. The copy of Luo Xiao's cultivation manual that I'd obtained from Zheng lay before me, ancient book worn but intact. I summoned law fire by heavenly energy from previous world and let it consume the book entirely.
The pages turned to nothingness in seconds, leaving behind only an ancient parchment covered in Sanskrit characters. The moment my fingers touched it, the symbols began to glow and flow directly into my hand. The sensation was unlike anything I'd experienced ~ even my body at the Heavenly Fate realm couldn't withstand the burning as the knowledge split between my soul space and physical form.
The Tai Sheng weapon refining body refinement method was legendary for good reason. Black flames erupted from within me, attempting to forge my body into a Xuan tier weapon. My adaptable physique handled the intensity better than most, but the process was still excruciating. I employed every body refinement technique I knew, feeling my previously soul-refined organs undergo new transformation as life essence flooded through them.
The refinement accelerated beyond normal parameters. My body progressed through the stages of skin, flesh, marrow, viscera, and bone marrow in mere instants, each level more intense than the last. The technique's philosophy of using flesh as a medium while tempering the body with natural energy created a feedback loop with my powerful soul and physique already refined by other methods, driving my body straight into Upper Xian tier.
Two weeks passed in a blur of constant refinement. The black flames pushed my body into Holy tier consuming the complete heavenly energy left in the soul core, each moment bringing new adaptations and enhancements. The progress appear rapid because the original refinement was already there. The process would have continued for days more, but I sensed Luo Yan coming near me through my extended awareness.
When I finally emerged from cultivation, my body still wreathed in refining Sanskrit, I found Luo Yan waiting anxiously nearby. I also perceived Luo Zheng's conflict with his sisters apparent lover.
"He'll be fine," I told her, seeing the worry in her eyes. "His instructor is coming to help him. You'll both meet again in a few months, but understand that your tribulations are just beginning. More will follow, but you'll both survive them."
I paused, meeting her gaze seriously. "Remember to keep our meeting secret. Knowledge of it will only make your fate more turbulent."
"Goodbye then," I said, casually opening the array using the flaw I'd identified earlier.
She took one last look at me before departing, and I shifted back to my void form. My body was still adapting, picking up the laws of transformation more readily now, the refinement Sanskrit continuing to enhance my cultivation of dual systems from different worlds.
I witnessed Zheng's rescue from a distance, but had no need to observe his journey to the Immortal Mansion. Instead, I spent the following time traveling on foot, savoring the simple pleasure of exploration while occasionally dispatching demons in the forests.
My evenings were spent in the ring world with Shen Xiu, though the intimate aspects proved initially challenging given my current form. She adapted to the situation with characteristic cooperation after some... education. My soul cultivation progressed to three fates during this period due to cultivation within ring world.
The journey to White Imperial City took several weeks of leisurely travel, during which I sampled local cuisines funded by coins and even genuine stones liberated from various bandits. It was there that I spotted a familiar figure ~ Yun Luo, moving through the crowd with her characteristic zero emotional face and grace.
I had no particular business with her, so after a brief observation, I continued toward the deserted area leading to the Immortal Mansion. But fate, it seemed, had other plans.
She materialized before me in the empty wasteland, her soulless gaze fixed on my face. "I can't even perceive you from distance. You don't have even fate. I am curious."
Despite knowing what she meant, I feigned ignorance. "Why are you cursing me when we just met? What do you want?"
Her hands moved with practiced precision, weaving an enchantment around me. "Such fates only appear to the truly tragic or truly lucky. You appear to have no cultivation, yet your soul power rivals limbo realm practitioners as I am now able to tell. Tell me why you're in this lower realm."
I shattered her barrier easily, employing soul force and heavenly energy enhanced with sword law. But she immediately shifted to a life essence absorption technique, forcing me to counter by commanding the energy to convert into creation energy.
The technique worked, but the exchange revealed that she possessed at least two realms more raw power than me ~ and this was merely a lower variant of her true self.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked calmly. "You're also quite powerful. Why are you here?"
"I only wanted to gauge your abilities," she replied, her tone unchanged. "You broke my control easily and dominated my energy with something stronger than true essence."
"So can I continue my exploration?"
"Yes, provided you don't return to White Cloud City. Your presence could alter the fates of people I'm monitoring."
I had no intention of returning anyway ~ " I'd only stopped for meals and rest." As I prepared to leave, I offered some advice. "Don't greet people like this in the future. They're not test subjects"
She maintained her monotonic expression as I departed, but I made sure to employ the LoHP to confirm she hadn't placed any tracking methods on my body.
The encounter reminded me why I preferred to avoid the cultivation world's power players. People like the teenage Luo Zheng were hot-headed enough, but their defiant behavior usually stemmed from legitimate stress about family and circumstances or simply arrogance. The truly powerful, like Yun Luo, operated on entirely different principles that made them far more dangerous to engage with casually.
Still, she hadn't escalated the situation, which I took as a positive sign. With my path clear and my secrets intact, I continued toward whatever adventures awaited in the Immortal Mansion.
