Chapter 152: The truth is spilled

Continuation, Third Person POV

Evelyn's yell reverberated in the room, her high-pitched voice piercing through the tension that was lingering in the air between them and stabbing right into Jennifer's chest.

Hurt flashed past Jennifer's dark green eyes as she quickly lowered her head and averted her eyes. "Okay," she murmured softly under her breath, her voice barely above a whisper. She sounded as if she was going to cry but she only sucked in a deep breath before letting the words roll off the tip of her tongue. "I'm sorry, I won't bother you again," she apologised, secretly reaching up to wipe the tears that were forming at the brim of her eyes.

Just as she spun on her heels and was ready to leave, the door swung open and the both of them looked up to find themselves looking right at Natalie.
