Guardians talk

The pressure all but forcing their foreheads into the dirt vanished.

They were all aware their creator and master, worthy of their worship, had departed, yet no one stood up. Some time passed before someone let out a sigh of relief. The tense mood relaxed.

The first one to stand was Albedo, followed by the rest of the guardians.

"T-that was really scary, huh, sis?"

"Seriously. I thought I was going to be crushed."

"I'd expect nothing less from Lord Momonga, but to think that his power would affect even us guardians..."

"I KNEW THAT AS ONE OF THE SUPREME BEINGS HE WAS STRONGER THAN US, BUT I DIDN'T REALISE BY HOW MUCH."

As Cocytus finished this statement, a voice spoke up "I must take my leave now, for I have labours which must be completed, lest we disappoint our creators. Thus, pardon me, fellow guardians. Demiurge, be prepared to receive me so that we can work on what Momonga-sama ordered of us."

"Now, don't be so hasty, Ryoumen-dono. After all, we are going to be working much more closely in the near future, as fellow denizens of Nazarick, and as servants of the Supreme ones." Albedo said.

'What the hell is your problem, lady! Don't you have some Momonga body pillows to stitch?' he thought internally. The truth is that work was just an excuse, Sukuna just wanted to get away from everyone in case someone noticed.

He took a moment to calm down thinking 'All right, considering that I don't share information with them regularly, they probably don't know a lot about me. As long as I play along nothing should go wrong.'

"Very well, then let us converse, my fellow guardians." said Sukuna.

"You must be stretched pretty thin all the time, Sukuna-dono, you are trusted with patrolling all of Nazarick after all." Sebas chimed in.

"I do not find it particularly burdensome, some kinds of baseness are nobly undergone, after all. And to me managing an entire floor, subordinates and all, feels far more burdensome." Sukuna replied.

"I-is it true that you were the one to destroy the force of 1800 intruders who dared to trespass on the great tomb, Sukuna?" Mare timidly asked.

'H-huh?! Did such a setting exist? There's no way I would have any idea, even if it did.' Satoru thought internally.

After momentarily deliberating on how to answer such a question, he responded "I do not have memory of every instance of me squashing bugs, be it a single bug or a hive of them."

"O-Oh, is that so?' Mare replied.

Sebas spoke to disperse the lax atmosphere. "Well, I'm going to head back. I don't know where Lord Momonga went, but I should probably be serving at his side."

Albedo looked awkward for a moment, but recovered. "Got it, Sebas. Attend him respectfully, and if anything comes up, let me know immediately. If he calls for me, I'll go running at once, no matter what I have to cast aside."

Demiurge, listening to this, had a faint look on his face that showed what a piece of work he felt she was.

While Albedo was discussing the details of imaginary summons, demiurge looked over at shalltear.

"Well, it sure is quiet. What's wrong, Shalltear?" Everyone turned to look at her. She was still kneeling.

"WHAT IS IT, SHALLTEAR?"

She lifted her head only after being addressed a second time. Her unfocused eyes glistened.

"IS SOMETHING WRONG?"

"Th-that awesome presence was so thrilling that my underwear are in quite a state."

This immediately set albedo off, as she screamed "YOU BITCH!!"

"Huh? Lord Momonga is one of the Forty-One Supreme Beings, as well as extremely beautiful. It's a reward to be hit with such a wave of power. You're crazy if you don't get wet! Maybe you weren't made pure at ah—maybe you're just frigid! Hm? You big-mouthed gorilla!"

"You lamprey!"

They glared at each other. The other guardians didn't think it would devolve into a death match, but they still looked on with anxiety.

"I was created the way I am by the Supreme Beings, and I have no complaints. Do you?"

"You know, I'm pretty sure the same goes for me!"

Shalltear slowly stood up, closing the distance between them slightly. Their eyes remained locked. They moved closer and closer together until finally they were bumping up against each other.

"You must think you've won because you're convinced you get to be close to Lord Momonga just because you're captain of the floor guardians, but isn't that a bit far-fetched?"

During the exchange their gazes didn't budge. They continued staring expressionlessly deep into each other's eyes.

With a ruffling noise, Albedo's wings stretched out imposingly. In response, a black haze began to come off Shalltear.

"Uh, Aura, I'll leave the girls up to the girls. If something happens, I'll jump in to stop them, so just let me know."

"Wha—? Demiurge! You're gonna shove this off on me?"

Aura suddenly looked at Sukuna, her eyes pleading for help.

'What're you looking at me for?! It's not like I'm gonna step in!' Satoru commented in his mind. But Aura's gaze was relentless, finally breaking his will 'Uhh fine, I'll try once!' he decided.

"SILENCE." he said in a stern voice, grabbing everyone's attention. After everyone was looking at him, he continued.

"I do not care what you argue about or how significant that argument is to you. But make sure to do it on your own floors and not on another guardian's realm. Furthermore, make sure you do it in your free time, not when you have pending orders from the supreme ones to fulfil." he berated.

Unfortunately, this only added fuel to the fire as the two NPCs got even more annoyed.

"HUH, YOU WANNA GO! I'LL TAKE YOU HERE HALFWIT!" screamed Shalltear.

"DON'T INTERRUPT ME WHEN I'M SPEAKING YOU LECHER! I KNOW BEST HOW TO SERVE THE SUPREME ONES. DOUBT MY LOYALTY AND ILL CRUSH YOU HERE!" Albedo declared.

"Crush me, huh. Then I take it that you've steeled your resolve to do so." Sukuna calmly answered. As he did so, a chill spread across the room, one of such great magnitude that it made even the two unstoppable guardians paralyzed. This wasn't the despair aura Ainz had demonstrated, or any other passive skill.

Instinct. The survival instinct of everyone present. One that was a result of their very nature as a lvl 100 NPC. Every single guardian knew that the two would die if they took it further. And this situation stayed until the two calmed down.

"Good, you're all calm now. Sorry for the provocation." Sukuna said in an amicable tone, as if nothing had ever happened.

Silence. All the guardians looked on in silence at this sudden change in tone. But the man who was the reason for their silence simply said "Well let's get to work now, shall we?" before leaving the room.
