Ana looked at the baby on her laps who was sleeping peacefully without a care in the world and smiled. Although he was still a baby his Elven bloodline was already noticeable, giving him a cute face with chubby cheeks.
She kissed his forehead before placing him in the crib beside her.
Five months had passed since Declan came to live in the Cliff residence. The family has grown very much close to the boy and even Aaron who first saw him as an income generator was beginning to have second thoughts.
Everyone in the family loved him dearly and the one in the family who has grown very close to him was Raphael, Deren and Ana's son who was 5 years old. Because he didn't have any siblings to play with, he became attached to the boy whom he has grown fond of.
After putting Declan in the crib and tucking him to sleep Ana carried Raphael who was sleeping on a soft mat beside the crib to his room.
He has been playing with Declan the whole day and feel asleep out of exhaustion.
After Ana climbed the stairs and made her way to Raphael's room Declan opened his eyes slowly and scanned the living room.
The room was made of wooden items with just a few metals decorations here and there. A grand oak wood fireplace stood at the room's centerpiece, radiating warmth and light. Plush furniture, crafted from sturdy oak frames and upholstered in rich, dark brown leather inviting relaxation. Above a beautifully crafted oak wood mantle, adorned with family heirlooms and decorative trinkets, adding touch of elegance to the room interior. Soft, golden lighting emanated from candled lamps, filling the room with a warm glow and a sweet scent of lavender fragrance.

Declan read the information on his status page with a sad look which was masked by his baby face. He didn't know what the thing that has appeared in front of him was but surprisingly, he couldn't read and understand a few things which confused him even more.
And the worst part was that the page in front of him seemed not to be changing, with just a few number changes since the first time he discovered it and that seemed to be worrying him be bothering him for some unknown reasons he couldn't tell.
But since he was still a baby and couldn't do anything about it, he decided to let it be and focus on his growth and new family.
A few minutes later, an excited looking Aaron entered the living room while laughing like a lunatic who has discovered a joke hidden in the pages of a novel. He opened the door and a beautiful lady with blond hair entered. She red eyes just like her father's. She scanned the house which held so many memories of her life and smiled. This was where grew up playing and learning so it held a special place in her heart.
"Missed home, eh?" Aaron asked with a smug look.
"So much" the woman answered without looking at Aaron 's direction.
"Oops, looks like my cute little boy is sleeping" Eren said, entering behind the beautiful lady. "Dad, can you please lower your voice" Eren whispered before moving towards the crib to check if their presence has woken the baby but fortunately, he was still sleeping peacefully.
"You have really changed a lot Amaria" Ana who has just returned from her son's room said before hugging the beautiful lady.
"And you look as beautiful as always Ana" she said as she also hugged Ana.
"I hope my no-good brother is treating you well?" Amaria asked Ana with a smile.
Eren who was looking at her with bloodshot eyes couldn't help feel like smacking his sister. Amaria on the other hand didn't bother to look at her and pretended as if he didn't exist.
"I served lunch a few minutes ago, let's go to the dining room" Ana said as she took a shopping bag from her husband and gave him a kiss before they walked in handy to the dining room.
Amaria was the first child of Aaron and his only daughter. She was married to the son of the city lord of the second biggest city in the Langford Kingdom. She was traveling back home from the divine temple of the gods and decided to spend a day or two with her family before continuing her journey to the Aldra city where she lived with her husband and in-laws.
After dinner, Aaron allowed Ana to feed Declan before requesting to take him out for a walk. Ana agreed and gave him feeding bottle filled with milk for the baby incase he became hungry or started crying.
As Aaron carried the baby walking through the streets of Ashwood town, a lot of eyes glanced in his direction from time to time. Although the town lord was a simple person who lived his life among his people normally, they still weren't used to him holding a baby and walking on the streets.
But Aaron didn't mind, he just wanted to enjoy the evening breeze and sweet scent of nature.
Declan looked at the people people on the streets curiously. People were stealing glances at him from time to time, which he found to be amusing.
Of course the people knew who he was. The town lord and his son introduced him as an adoptive son Eren.
On a small wooded hill overlooking the town sat Aaron who was holding Declan firmly.
"Still remember the first day I stepped into this town. I was just a young fearless teenager, who lived everyday of his life fighting for survival". Aaron said low tone.
"I can still remember the fresh trees scent and the beautiful scenery. The songs and sounds of the chirping birds. Perhaps it was fate that made me meet father" He said as he remembered the man who adopted him and took him in as his own.
"I dont know why fate brought us together Declan, but I have a feeling you're here for a reason and I believe it's a good one" he looked at the baby who was smiling at him with his thumb in his mouth.
"After soo many years of good memories, here I am, having not one but two grandchildren and a happy family"
"But I don't know why I have a feeling all these will be coming to an end soon. Something is coming Declan, I can feel it. And I hope you can be strong enough to stand on your own when the time comes and I'm no more" Aaron said while cleaning the tears on his cheeks.
He had already decided a few weeks ago to stop accepting the payments for taking the boy in and accept him as his real grandson and a family member.
