Do I look like a descendant of a weakling?

"Umm which one of them is my father again?"

Declan asked with a dumb face and all the people in the room looked at him as if they have just seen a mad man.

Only Zareel maintained a calm face.

"Lord Ramiel" Zareel answered.

"The fierce and yet kindest necromancer I have ever seen"

"You say he was a necromancer, and yet he got defeated by a mere Jovian? Was he that weak? And you want me to believe that a weakling like him is my father?"

Although they were surprised, all of them still kept a calm face.

"Do I look like the son of a weakling? Such a weakling can never be my fa— ouch"

Aaron head smacked his grandson before he could even finish the nonsense he was pouting.

Declan yelped in pain and held his head before giving his grandfather a look of injustice.

"Don't mind my no good grandson, he's just too happy to hear about his father" Aaron said with a guilty smile.

"Don't worry lord Aaron, I've seen this so many times in the past. He's just like his father when we were his age. Daring and brave" Zareel said with a smile.

The reason why Declan said those things about his father was because he wanted to gauge to what extent the guards around him respected his father. That will help him determine how he would relate with them and to what extent he could trust them.

He was well aware the people infront of him seeked vengeance, although they hadn't told him anything he could somehow feel it.

And he believed this was the only reason why they would tell him about his father and his death.

"Are you done uncle Zareel?"

"No"

"Okay continue"

Zareel nodded before continuing.

"After we escaped from the Demon kingdom, we headed to my lady who's your mother's homeland in the elven continent with only the elders. The others travelled to the southern continent"

"Because we were just a few people, we were allowed to stay in the elven lands disguised as humans for a few months until we able to build a settlement in the Southern Continent where our elders and a few people of the clan are currently stay"

"We served and protected my lady from shadows until she gave birth. We had to take you to a place where you'd be safe and only the western continent was the farthest from the demon kingdom so we chose this place"

Declan looked at his grandpa as if he had just caught a thief before asking him a question.

"Umm grandpa, did you know about this all this while?" Declan asked.

"Yes"

"But I wasn't the one to tell you because I didn't know the whole story. I couldn't explain for you to understand like the way he did" Aaron said and Declan nodded.

"Errmm…and who are these three people uncle Zareel?"

Declan pointed at the three people behind Zareel and Oliver. They removed their cloaks at that moment, revealing their faces. They looked like they were in their early twenties but in reality, they were older than that. Demons and elves had longer lifespans compared to humans, with some of them even living up to 300 hundred years.

"My name is Julian. Glad to meet you young master"

Julian said and gave a brief bow.

Declan only smiled and gave him a brief nod.

(Incase some of you has forgotten Julian, he's the one who escorted Declan's mother back to Winterglen kingdom after she gave birth)

The other two introduced themselves as Ryan and Elorde.

Ryan had long brown hair and golden piercing eyes and was good looking.

Declan appraised him and found him quite satisfying. As someone who has been a soldier in many of his lifetimes, it was easy for him to identify a capable soldier.

Elorde also had long brown hair but grey eyes which seemed to gleam with fierce inner light.

All this while, Oliver was paying close attention to the boy who seemed to have changed since the last time he saw him.

Zareel reported to him a few days ago about the sudden changes that has happened to the boy and apart from what Zareel said, a lot of things seemed to have changed about the boy.

"Is that all?" Declan asked and Zareel shook his head.

"Since you're the only child of the lord, automatically you are his heir but our allegiance still belongs to the lord. In other for us to become your subordinate, you need to achieve a feat worth noting and only then and there will we swear allegiance to you"

Zareel said.

"You'll be training with the other children of your age for two years in our stronghold and after your training, you'll undertake a trial which would allow the elders of the tribe to recognize you as the lord's heir if you succeed" He added.

"Since you're a half blood, remember not all the elders and people will like you so do your best to impress them" Oliver who has been quite throughout the conversation finally spoke out.

"Well, I don't plan on impressing anyone. I didn't choose to be a heir in the first place so if they don't need me, what makes you think I would want to impress them" Declan asked casually.

Zareel smiled bitterly because what Declan said was true. He wasn't a full demon and not a straight descent of the Zephyr clan so he could choose a different path in life.

And he didn't need the Zephyr clan but rather the Zephyr clan needed him.

"You're right. But I want you to know that the Zephyr clan needs you young lord. Although not all of the elders accept this but that is the truth. We need you" Oliver answered.

According to their spies in the demon kingdom, Jovian has subjected the demon kingdom to a harsh rule and the other members of the Zephyr clan they captured were now in slavery.

Because of this, they had planned to declare war on the demon king when he least expected with the help of the two tribes in the southern continent but none of them were willing to help. They had tried so many times to form alliance with other nations in order to regain their kingdom but no nation was willing to help.

The demon kingdom was one of the powerful kingdoms in the world and none of the kings dared to launch war on.

But only the Zephyr clan couldn't go to war because they numbered less than two thousand which was why they needed help.

That was the reason why the five loyal soldiers had waited all these years and hoped beyond hope that Declan could inherit his fathers legacy which would make them stand a chance against the might of the demon kingdom.

Only the five of them knew how powerful and dangerous necromancers could be if they decided to go all out in a battle

They had witnessed the horde of undead their previous lord could command. Even when they were surrounded back in the demon kingdom, Ramiel was able to take out half of the soldiers under Jovian's command, who numbered in millions just by himself, despite the fact that they were outnumbered.

This was why they have waited all these years and finally, their wait has paid off.
