The sun was up in the sky, the weather bright and slightly warm; a perfect day to make an antidote. We returned with the vial of ocean water last night needing to get started with the procedure, more mutants can disappear at any time.

The late afternoon sun cast long, slanting beams of golden light through the lab’s high windows, dancing on the metallic surfaces of scientific equipment. Keturah, Maria, Cathy, and Katherine bustled through the entrance with a crate of ocean water carefully sealed in sterilized containers. Their expressions betrayed a mixture of exhaustion and determination. The weight of what they carried was not just physical but metaphorical—the potential salvation for countless lives.

As the lab doors hissed shut behind them, Dr. Lee, head scientist of the lab, hurried over. “Is this it?” he asked, his eyes bright with a mix of anxiety and hope.

“Yes,” Katherine said firmly. “Let’s get started.”
