The Monster of The Loch Ness

The sleek, black jet arrives and lands on the green patch of land near the coast of the lake. In the grassy field is Sebastian, sitting cross-legged, an expensive black camera in his hands, mood complete opposite of what it was before.

Rina steps out of the jet and approaches the now seemingly disappointed Sebastian.

"Hey," she joins Sebastian on the grass-covered soil.

"Any news?"

"She hasn't gone up in two hours. TWO HOURS. I haven't seen her let alone take any pictures."

"She's coming out, just wait," Rina grabs the camera from his hands and tests it out, taking pictures of the lake and the frowning Sebastian.

"Kristoff, any movement?" she talks to her earpiece.

"It's just swimming around in a circle right where you guys are facing," Kristoff answers.

"Nessie is a SHE, you uncultured swine!!" Sebastian screams into his earpiece, Rina laughs.

"Yeah, whatever," Kristoff completely oblivious.

"So, you wanna talk about what happened this morning?"

This was the start of the lecture that Sebastian was watching out for and avoiding since the morning.

"You already know, what's there to talk about."

She looks him dead in the eyes, completely serious, subtle concern painted on her face.

"What happened"

"I just.. You know that thing when people are working out where they train until failure? That's kinda what I was doing."

"Or I was limit testing, I don't know. I just tried to see how much I can use."

"The void energy?"

"Yeah," Sebastian reaches his right hand out and produces a small, black flame with what looked like mist emanating from its outer part. "I've kinda been learning how to use it the past year. And I have. I just used too much earlier and I guess it imploded or something."

"BUT, now I know what the limit is," he closes his palm, extinguishing the flame. "This is a learning experience, it's all good."

"Learning experience? All good?? Seb, you could have died."

He couldn't give a rebuttal. He can tell how utterly concerned she was just by the look on her face. This probably hurt her more than it did him.

"I know.. I'm sorry. And I'm sorry fo—"

"She's coming up, get ready," Kristoff cuts off the conversation.

The water's surface started to bulge followed by a large and loud explosive surge – it's the Loch Ness monster, finally emerging from the depths of the lake. Much larger now than what was usually speculated. It was like a wingless, sea dragon with an absurdly long neck.

"HOLY SHIT, IT'S NESSIE!!!" Sebastian got cut off from what he was trying to say. The monster he had been looking forward to for years finally in front of him.

"BEN ARE YOU SEEING THIS???!!!"

"Would be better if I was actually there," hint of jealousy and disappointment in Benedict's tone.

"Oh I wish you were, buddy."

Rina hands him the camera. He was so caught up in the moment he completely forgot about it but as soon as he remembered and had it in his hands, he pressed the capture button so many times he nearly broke it.

She couldn't help but smile, too and feel second-hand joy seeing him this happy.

"Are you seriously taking pictures?" Kristoff's voice echoes in both their ears. "Take care of it before it gets tired of my distractions and leaves again."

They notice several small, circular, metallic objects hovering around Nessie – Kristoff's drones. These objects start shooting beams of energy at the monster which are apparently not strong enough as the monster is sustaining no damage at all from the lasers. They were what Kristoff said – distractions. He could've unleashed the big guns for this particular mission and it would have been over in less than 10 seconds but it was due to Benedict's request that he didn't.

"Are those—ARE YOU SHOOTING AT HER??!!" Sebastian wildly disapproves.

"I'm practically tickling it and what do you think Rina is going to do. Speaking of, Rina, what are you just standing around there for?" Kristoff complains about being the only one who's doing his job.

"Oops, forgot the rifle at the jet, lemme just get it real quick," says Rina as she starts stomping in place, trying to emulate the sound of footsteps.

"You're STILL just standing there and smirking, you guys know I can see you, right? God, you two are just perfect for each other, aren't you?"

"Aww, thanks."

"That wasn't a compliment, woman."

"Alright, I'm going in for some close-up shots", says Sebastian before teleporting away.

SHHOOM

He grabs one of his blades and starts striking down Kristoff's levitating laser toys one by one while simultaneously capturing shots of Nessie.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING???!!" Kristoff screams in his ear.

"They were getting in the way and distracting Nessie, I can't get good shots if she's waggling around."

"Okay, one, those aren't cheap and two, she's gonna bail again at this rate."

"Oh calm down you nerd. Everything's fine."

"You wanna intervene?" Kristoff asks Benedict.

"I wanna join him is what I want," answers Benedict, wallowing in envy.

"What is wrong with these people," Kristoff whispers under his breath.

Rina just watches in the distance as Sebastian was teleporting around the long-necked monster who was chasing him around. The two looked like they were just playing around and Sebastian seemed genuinely happy, and this also made her happy. This went on for about another half hour. The monster ended up getting tired trying to chase Sebastian around with its long neck and stopped, probably noticed that the man wasn't trying to harm her as well. Even Kristoff got tired of sending in weapons that Sebastian just kept destroying. The monster just started slowly swimming around the lake with Sebastian on her back.

"Yo, Ben. Do we really have to, you know…"

"She's a monster, Sebastian. She may not be harmful to people like you, but to the ordinary people, she's a carnivorous murder machine," Benedict delivers the bad news. "I hate this as much as you do."

"Ahhh fine," Sebastian lets out a loud groan.

"This has been fun, Nessie," he says as gently caresses the monster's skin.

He grabs a blade with his right hand, holds the monster's neck with his left, stops for a few seconds, and slices it off cleanly.

The monster's long neck makes a large splash on the lake. The Loch Ness monster is no more.
