As the days went by, David tried to return to normal life. He went to work, met up with friends, and spent time with his family. But he couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed. Every now and then, he'd catch glimpses of things that didn't belong—people in the background that flickered out of existence, objects that seemed to shift or disappear when he looked away.
The first time it happened, he was at a café with his friend Matt. They were mid-conversation when David saw a man across the street standing perfectly still, staring at him. His eyes were hollow, his face blank. David blinked, and the man was gone.
"You alright?" Matt asked, noticing the sudden silence.
David shook his head, trying to dismiss the strange vision. "Yeah… just thought I saw something."
But it wasn't just once. The visions became more frequent. Random objects would shimmer in and out of view, like they didn't belong in this dimension. Sometimes, entire sections of the world would flicker, revealing brief glimpses of another reality—a skyline of towering structures or an alien landscape, only for everything to return to normal within seconds.
David knew then that something was wrong. The rift had not fully closed.
