Chapter 32 Purchases

In the room with the shelves, one of the tentacle monsters was literally wrapped around a water pipe, greedily drinking from it with one tentacle. A few more of its brethren stood in an organized line around a watering hole.

«The water in the stream below is murky and tastes bad,» one of the monsters explained. «Here it's fresh.»

I wished them luck and moved on, grabbing my clothes. When I reached the door, I put on my magic necklace, turned back into a human, dressed, and slipped out into the alley.

I was cautious, but fortunately there was no ambush of angry adventurers outside - apparently Svetlana had indeed hidden the fact of her defeat. Belatedly regretting that I hadn't summoned one of the monsters, I closed the door and hurried towards the more respectable neighborhoods.

This part of the city was much more densely populated, and the streets here were very crowded. Most of the passersby were erotic-looking women, so I had to make an effort not to stare at any of the beauties. Occasionally there were some elven women in the crowd....

I had plenty of money, so I decided to take full advantage of the local civilization. I started with clothes, remembering the old saying that you know people by their clothes.

Apparently, due to the abundance of wealthy women in the city, there were clothing stores at every turn on the main streets of the city.

In most of them, however, attractive beauties were actively trying on outfits. I was afraid to go in there, afraid that my orc instincts would override my reason and I would die foolishly and ignominiously trying to fuck beautiful women in front of a bunch of witnesses in the middle of a city full of guards and adventurers.

Finally, I was lucky enough to find a shop that wasn't crowded with female customers, and even the clerk was a man, not an attractive madam. At first he treated me coldly, but as soon as I showed him the money, he became enthusiastic.

I came out of the shop wearing stylish boots, pants of some thick cloth, a silk shirt and a camisole. All of this was purple, which the salesman said was a symbol of the owner's high status. He also recommended a good hotel nearby.

During all this time we were not disturbed by any other customers. Only once did a woman in a long, narrow, bright red dress come by, talk to the salesman, and leave without taking a last look at me.

In addition to her extremely attractive figure, which incredibly combined a narrow waist, wide hips, and large breasts, the woman also had long, loose, gray-steel-colored hair that reached down to her waist.

After leaving the shop, I went to the hotel recommended to me, where I rented a room with all amenities, threw my bag in and had a hearty lunch.

On my way out, I again met a pretty girl with gray hair who recognized me and looked at me with obvious suspicion. Not wanting to get into a conflict, I pretended not to notice her look.

It was well after noon, and I took a walk around the city, taking in the local architecture and familiarizing myself with the neighborhood. There were no buildings higher than four stories, but closer to the center of town, the houses were characterized by an abundance of all kinds of porticos, columns, bas-reliefs, and other architectural excesses.

Some mansions were surrounded by wrought-iron fences and were so green that the abundance of climbing plants hid the walls and even grew on the roofs. These were most likely the mansions where the local elven women lived.

Right in the center of the city, I could admire the luxurious and majestic buildings of the City Hall and the Adventurers' Guild. Both buildings, despite the elaborate carvings that covered them from top to bottom, were characterized by massive walls and narrow windows on the first floors.

They looked like miniature fortresses that could withstand a small siege. The City Hall was located in the main square, and the Adventurer's Guild was on one of the main streets.

I thought about following the popular adventurer's navel and registering as an adventurer. But in time, I remembered the story of the archer I caught yesterday and decided to hold off for now.

By the time I got back to the inn, night had fallen over the town. I'd found a few neighborhoods where the main life was beginning, but for now I decided to just relax and enjoy the benefits of civilization. The last few days had been quite eventful.

My room had a local magic water supply with hot and cold water, as well as a large bathtub into which I climbed, taking a bottle of wine with me. I was tempted to remove my amulet and soak in the warm water as an orc, but I was afraid that someone might suddenly enter, or that it was customary to peer at bathers.

I go into the huge bed with silk sheets and went to sleep. I didn't get much sleep, though. I was awakened by a sharp, cold blade pressed against my neck. Instantly awake and frozen, I carefully opened my eyes.

«Good for you for not panicking,» a melodious female voice praised me.
