Chapter 57 Out of Space

I decided not to linger in the empty office and headed straight for the nearby door. My task was done, but I was in no hurry to return - I was lucky to be in the heart of the citadel, away from the main battles, and maybe I could find a light elf for sex.

I stopped on my way and looked at the books Vivi had left behind, which had stopped floating and fallen to the ground after her escape. I could understand the words in the books, but I couldn't make sense of them - there were too many abstruse terms, formulas, tables and graphs.

So I threw the books back on the floor rather than fill my inventory with useless literature. But in general, it turned out to be a shame - in anime manga, the hero either gained valuable skills or important information from looking at books. Here, it was just nonsense that I didn't understand.

As soon as I opened the door, I saw a solid wall of some gray, translucent substance bearing down on me. I immediately slammed the door back shut and pressed myself against the side of the wall....

But nothing happened - the gray translucent thing didn't come in. I decided to wait for a while, afraid that it might lie in wait.

After a few minutes, the scenery outside the windows turned gray and then disappeared, replaced by a solid, slightly glowing gray. It was then that I realized this was not a living thing, but something else. Cautiously, I looked out the door and saw that instead of a corridor, it was still the same gray glowing mass.

When I took out my dagger and tried to poke it gently, I found that it was not material. And when I threw one of the kettlebells at it, I saw it fly down....

That's when I realized that the gray glowing stuff is some kind of gas that fills the huge empty space in the middle of which is the room I'm in. At the same time, I finally realized that I couldn't hear the sounds of battle coming from below.

Carefully, I leaned over the threshold and saw that the room was indeed hollow: there was nothing below, a few meters below the ground, with stone walls to the left and right, and another floor above.

I climbed up, using the outward-opening door as a support. Fortunately, the room above had no walls or roof.

As I clumsily climbed up, voices came from up there.

«And what kind of magic was that?» I recognized the voice as Lima's. «You know you've locked yourself in with me, don't you? Once my powers are restored and nothing can save you, my sweet... First I'll play with you a little bit and when you get bored I'll drink your soul.»

«While you are here, your powers will not be restored,» a melodious voice that clearly belonged to an elven woman answered her. «I have used the latest invention in magic, created specifically to fight your kind. This place is now floating in the void between worlds, so your powers will not be restored until we return to our world. Unless, of course, someone foolishly lets you drink their soul... But don't expect such a gift from me.»

«Still...» the demoness scoffed. «And you really hope to keep me once we're back in normal space? When will that be, by the way?»

«In about an hour, I guess... Or rather, it'll be an hour for us, off-world. But the time streams are different here. On the world, it will take about a year. So don't expect any help while my servants have time to prepare.»

«So? No matter how fast they are, I'll always have time to kill myself and come back to life in my mistress's citadel...»

«You haven't considered that my powers regenerate here. Since the beginning of our conversation, enough time has passed that I can move on my own... And now I will clip your wings so that you will be calmer when we return.»

The demoness remained silent.

«Actually, the plan was to have Vivi take care of you here, who was supposed to be in the room below us. She's wanted to get her hands on a living demon for a long time. And she's the one who designed the spell, even though only I can use it,» the elf admitted. «But she's still missing. Apparently she was unlucky and your minions got to the poor thing faster than expected...»

Throughout the dialogue, I climbed stubbornly, if clumsily. I had no dexterity, but I had enough strength and endurance to reach my goal.

The room I found myself in was originally a huge hall with a ceiling supported by pillars. Now the walls and ceiling of the hall were missing, and the remaining columns were neatly cut off at a height of a few meters.

Leema, whom I already knew, was leaning against one of the columns. She looked exactly the same as when we first met. If it hadn't been for the confession I'd heard, I wouldn't have thought she was completely exhausted and unable to move.

The second inhabitant of the hall was an incredibly beautiful elf. Although other members of her race were unimaginably beautiful, this one stood out even against their background.

Her body was incredibly slender, yet her breasts were impressively large. Despite their size, they were firm and perfectly formed. Her thick golden hair covered her back and fell below her waist.

At the same time, the tall elf had a truly regal posture and incredible grace. Her divine beauty, narrow face, and blue eyes with thick eyebrows and long fluffy eyelashes were also beyond praise.

Her unearthly beauty was accentuated by her clothes - a long, snow-white dress with an open back, a plunging neckline in the front, and a huge slit in front of her right leg that reached down to her hips. The slenderness of her legs was accentuated by snow-white stockings and stiletto shoes.

At first, the elven woman, a dagger in her hand, walked toward the exposed demoness. Judging by her leisurely gait, the sharp-eared beauty had not yet had time to regain her strength. She immediately recognized my appearance and retreated to one of the pillars, dagger in hand.

Her face remained completely calm and her blue eyes looked at me impassively. But at the same time, the beauty unobtrusively stooped her whole body so that her lovely breasts almost fell out of the neckline of her dress. And the ostrouhaya's slender right leg moved forward a little, exposing her thigh.

I was clearly provoked to attack the elf immediately. Had it been any other monster, it would have lunged forward and died ignominiously with the dagger. I was less instinctive, so I took one of the weights from my inventory and threw it at the beauty with all my might.
