Chapter 27: Messenger bird

As soon as Sachi touched the parchment her expression changed. The System has reacted very strongly. It did not react this strong even when it informed her about the fire and water spirits.

"Ding! Find the ruins you will receive a chance at roulette."

"Ding! Find the lost ancient city. Your reward is increase in a beast's rank, 50 million coins, and 1 million experiences points. Increase in a level."

"Ding, save a life, and receive a chance at land expansion, 5 million experience points, 50 million coins, increase in the rank of two beats, 2 chances at roulette."

There were few more massages. Sachi was completely stunned at this. A bright smile appeared on her face. She was ecstatic.

Artag thought that she was happy due to parchment as he heard her say it was her first time seeing a parchment.

Lori also saw her daughter's expression she quickly knew something happened, and this something should have to do with system and the rebirth island. She neared Sachi who quickly looked at her and winked.

Lori knew her daughter needs help. So she quickly came to Sachi.

Sachi opened the parchment which is made of the beast skin. It was a map, but she could not make heads or tails of it.

"What is this?" she asked Ivan.

"Young madam even i cannot say for sure, but the one who got this said that it was a map to some special ruins. I will not hide it from you, i do not know where the map leads to" he revealed the truth.

Both Lori and Artag looked at the map as well. Their eyebrows furrowed.

Sachi then rolled the map and then looked at Ivan how about 9 magi crystals.

"What?" Artag was surprised

"Sachi it doesn't have a heads or tails and i think you do not know how to bargain my little girl, let mama help you" Lori stated looking at her daughter.

"Then how about 1 crystal mama, I do not know how to buy?" Sachi said with innocent eyes. Mom and daughter were putting an act and playing the roles accordingly.

Ivan sweated "one crystal, that was too less for him. But it was better than nothing and much better than having to lose his life or imprisoned" he thought.

"Hey, the map is a fake, why do you want to throw away the crystals, you I am in a good mood today give it to my niece for free and I will leave you today" ordered Artag.

"F... Fr...Free, okay my lord. Little madam, think of this as a gift from this old man and can take it" he said with a crying face.

"Oh, no I do not want to take advantage of your hard work old uncle, how about this i will give you two crystals" said Sachi innocently.

Ivan felt odd at Sachi's behavior but he did not understand what was odd. "Maybe it was because of the Goosebumps he felt" he looked at her carefully she really was just at beginners' level, not dangerous at all. He was unable put the finger on what was odd.

Lori quickly took out 5 magi crystals and quickly three out at the man "this is the first time my daughter is coming out and visit her maternal house. You are lucky, just leave now" she said.

Ivan felt like he was pardoned, he looked at Artag once who was silent. He took it as approval and quickly ran away.

As soon as Ivan ran away Artag looked at her sister.

Lori understood he wanted an explanation for their behavior. He was very intelligent; he quickly caught up with them and acted as the bad tyrant who likes to take advantage. All three of them put up an act so that the merchant would think that they do not know what it is and the map was not as important as he made it.

"Not here" Lori replied. Then they quickly moved forward.

Before leaving, Artag sent a message to his home stating to keep an eye on Ivan and send informants to follow him.

They came to the entrance of the city. The guards standing there quickly saluted to them. Artag nodded in acknowledgement and moved forward.

As soon as they left an old man appeared on one of the watch station of the city and looked at the leaving party. He looked deeply at Sachi and Lori, then into the sky. At a very long distance he spotted a bird flying.

He was shocked to see the bird, because he recognized it. It was a phoenix. An Ice Phoenix.

"So, you are the little bird who entered the Empire" he commented looking at it. "Who do you belong to?" he questioned looking at Sachi and Lori.

The man was the guardian of the empire, who saw the stars change on that day.

Queen quickly looked back as she felt someone watching. She saw an oldman standing on one of the watch towers and he was standing at the highest point balancing himself on a sharp point. It felt more like he was flying.

As soon as she looked the oldman was shocked then disappeared like smoke.

Queen quicky relayed what she saw to Sachi. As Sachi heard Queens's words she was surprised and looked back, but she saw no one.

"What happened?" inquired Lori.

"Nothing, it's just felt like someone was watching us" replied Sachi. Both the brother and sister looked around but saw nothing suspicious.

The party left the city completely after 30 minutes and started travelling in the forest which they have to cross inorder to reach next city.

As soon as they left completely the old man appeared again at the same place. There was still shock in his eyes. He saw a legendary beast in his empire; he did know what to make of this. Then he looked down at his hand which caught a messenger bird.

It struggled a little but was unable to escape from his hands. The old man blurted a magic bird, and the bird head fell to the side closing its eyes, it went to sleep.

The oldman looked at the note tide to its legs and studied the content and scrutinized his brows." As soon as the little girl came, she brought trouble" he thought looking at the note.

A few minutes before when Sachi and Lori were buying the map from the merchant unknown to them a man was watching them. He was mainly following Ivan. After he saw the map being sold, he quickly went out and sent a messenger bird to someone.

One of the shadow guards saw the man looking at Artag and family and followed him. However, he was little late as the man already sent the message.

As soon as the shadow guard saw the messenger bird, he understood that the situation a little out of the norm, so he went forward and captured him. He informed his other comrades about the situation and returned to the kingdom to inform about this and interrogate the man.

What they did not know was that the old man one of the guardians of the empire also saw this and he quickly went after the bird.

The messenger birds are tiny sparrow like birds which are dark and very fast. They are used for sending messages because of their speed. Many organizations and spy agencies raise them inorder to send secret messages. Catching this bird is not easy as they are fast as lightning.

The oldman is very experienced and knew how to catch this messenger bird. Even he has 3 messenger birds he raised himself. Also, his attribute is lightning.

The other thing is that he not only uses his messenger birds to send information he taught them how to fight and catch other messenger birds.

Coming to the present the old man scrutinized the information which was in the note. He fell into a dilemma if he should let this message reach the destination or to hide it. He thought for long and came to a decision.

He left a tracking spell on the bird and left it with the note. He then ordered one of his messenger birds to follow it.

He wanted to know where this will lead.
