"If there is another chance in the afterlife, like in anime or novels, I promise I will never be lazy and will put every ounce of effort into living my life to the fullest."
My vision went completely dark and, on the day XX of the year XXXX, a university student died from a heart attack caused by -

"Where am I?" My consciousness awakened, confused and disoriented. It seemed impossible, yet... I was dead.
"Can a soul think?" The question dissolved into the void, without receiving any answer. As I pondered, I tried to open my eyes, a simple gesture that caused a jolt of pure shock.
What I saw was neither the nothingness described in many stories nor hell. I didn't consider myself either righteous or evil, rather indifferent, as Dante described.
According to Dante, the indifferent are those who, in life, chose neither good nor evil, remaining perpetually neutral, incapable of taking a stand. In *Canto III* of the **Inferno**, they are condemned to eternal existence in the Ante-Inferno, a place outside of hell itself, because they did not deserve either salvation or damnation. Dante imagines them running naked behind an empty banner, incessantly tormented by wasps and hornets, with blood and tears falling to the ground, devoured by worms.
Dante despised these sinners more than many others for their lack of character and decision. Among them, it is said, was "the one who for cowardice made the great refusal," likely a reference to Pope Celestine V, who abdicated the papacy.
This image struck me deeply: had I ever made an important decision in my life? Had I ever fought for something? Or had I always remained in a gray limbo, floating between right and wrong without ever taking a clear stance?
As my eyes adjusted to the light, I realized I was in a vast field of giant pumpkins. They were almost as tall as me, and some even exceeded my height. Their twisted, menacing appearance made the atmosphere surreal, as if I were in a world straight out of a nightmare.
As I tried to understand where I was, a sudden flash caught my attention: a glowing screen appeared before me, suspended in mid-air with no visible support.
The words appeared slowly:
**[Congratulations, or perhaps I should say "welcome."]**
**[Maybe you thought your death was a mere coincidence, but you are wrong!]**
A shiver ran through me. My death? Until that moment, I had always thought it was just an accident, a tragic twist of fate. But that message suggested otherwise.
**[You have been chosen from 100,000 people from your world to become a future calamity of the cosmos. Of course, only if you survive.]**
**[To aid your growth, you will be granted a system that will guide you towards glory.]**
The screen remained still for a moment. Then, a final message appeared:
**[Good... luck.]**
Those words sounded more like a threat than a wish. The sense of oppression grew.

After a moment, I tried to calm myself and reflect. I decided to conduct a small experiment, if only to distract myself from the fear.
"Open status," I thought in my mind, trying to use the alleged system mentioned in the message.
**Name: Lucas Everhart
Species: Pumpkin Specter (Infant)
Title: None
Physical Energy: 2 [100%]
Psychic Energy: 1 [100%]
Traits: Psychic Conversion Lv.1 / Fear Lv.1 / Spectral Deception Lv.1**
"What?!" I mentally screamed, shocked by the word "Pumpkin" in the description of my species.
Now everything made more sense. I finally understood why I was in a garden and why the pumpkins looked so large: I was one of them.
