Chapter 4: Merging of Minds

As Mo Fan came down from the stage, hearing the voices calling him, combined with the scenes from his memories, he couldn't help but feel conflicted. Rationally, he knew that before he had truly grown in strength, it wasn't wise to confront Mu Zhuoyun head-on.

But the fire burning in his heart, along with the rebellious nature within this young body, made him feel that he wouldn't be satisfied unless he gave this old man a piece of his mind. Plus, with Principal Zhu, Teacher Tang Yue, and board member Deng Kai present, Mu Zhuoyun couldn't do anything to him at the moment.

While thinking this, Mo Fan approached Mu Zhuoyun.

As he got closer, his gazes first rested on Mu Ningxue's cold and beautiful face.

Naturally, Mu Ningxue was also looking at Mo Fan. She was a bit surprised. She had assumed that Mo Fan, who came to this magic school by selling his family house, was just here to waste time. Little did she expect that he had such innate talent for cultivation!

"Ahem!" Mu Zhuoyun cleared his throat.

Hearing this, Mu Ningxue, who didn't want to cause trouble for Mo Fan, immediately shifted her gaze away.

Although Mo Fan didn't want to take his eyes off her face, he had no choice but to turn and look at Mu Zhuoyun.

"Why did you call me over?"

To others, Mu Zhuoyun carried the authority of a king, making most juniors tremble in his presence. But to Mo Fan, especially with his understanding of this world, there was no way he was going to be intimidated.

In Bo City, Mu Zhuoyun might be considered part of a prestigious family. But on a national scale, his family was just a small clan.

They had no overwhelming power or influence, and their reach was limited to ordinary people.

"Our Mu family recently acquired some resources for fire magic cultivation. Unfortunately, most people in our estate specialize in ice magic. Since your fire talent is quite impressive, and your cultivation surprised us, I've decided to give you these resources. In addition to your regular classes, you can train alongside Mu Jiangming and the others." Mu Zhuoyun said, stroking his beard, his tone condescending, as if offering a great favor.

To Mu Zhuoyun, this was a gesture of support for Mo Fan. Mo Fan should be grateful.

But to Mo Fan, those words were nothing short of insulting!

"Mo Fan, why are you standing there? Hurry up and thank Master Mu for his generosity." their homeroom teacher, Xue Musheng, quickly urged.

"Wait a minute, Mu Zhuoyun, is there something wrong with your brain?"

"What did you just say?" Mu Zhuoyun asked, bewildered, not sure if he had heard correctly.

"I said, is there something wrong with your brain?" Mo Fan repeated clearly, word by word, his tone firm and unyielding.

Everyone heard him clearly this time, and their faces showed a mix of shock and confusion.

Mu Zhuoyun, the local tyrant of Bo City, was always treated with the utmost respect. And now, Mo Fan, the son of a former driver for the Mu family, was openly provoking him?

"You don't need to act all righteous like you didn't suppress my family three years ago. I'm not some fool who will lick your boots just because you hit me once and then offer me a little treat." Mo Fan vented, feeling a strange sense of relief wash over him as if some lingering resentment from the original Mo Fan had finally been released.

This brought a strange feeling, as if he had just purged the last bit of the original Mo Fan's grievances. With that, his consciousness completely merged with the original Mo Fan's, making him feel fully himself.

While Mo Fan felt at ease, Principal Zhu and the others had gone numb from shock. As for Mu Zhuoyun, his face darkened to the extreme!

In his fury, Mu Zhuoyun's icy magic began to surge uncontrollably. Frost spread across the ground, and it was clear that the old man was about to make a move.

Mu Zhuoyun was furious. It had been years since anyone had dared speak to him like this. He was practically the emperor of Bo City! Even the principal of the magic school, the top officials of the Magic Association, and Deng Kai of the Hunter Alliance all treated him with respect. His juniors in the estate could barely breathe in his presence, yet here was Mo Fan, pointing his finger and insulting him!

"Zhuoyun, control your temper. We're in a school, with many students who don't even have basic defensive abilities." said Deng Kai, the board member from the Hunter Alliance, stepping in between Mu Zhuoyun and Mo Fan.

With Deng Kai's intervention, Mu Zhuoyun, though still furious, had no choice but to suppress his anger.

At this point, Teacher Tang Yue also stepped forward.

Just as Mo Fan had anticipated, no unforeseen events occurred.

Soon after, Mu Zhuoyun challenged Mo Fan to a duel at Yu Ang's coming-of-age ceremony. Mo Fan accepted without hesitation.

Setting reason aside, this opportunity would grant him access to the Underground Holy Spring.

After the tension subsided, the whole class looked at Mo Fan, baffled by his actions. To many of them, Mo Fan seemed insane for going up against the Mu family. Magic clans were powerful, and even in their school, the Mu family could easily outclass them.

Although Mo Fan had some natural talent, cultivation becomes increasingly difficult. On top of that, talent alone isn't enough—one needs magical tools and weapons. These were things Mo Fan obviously didn't have.

How could he win?

But to Mo Fan, none of this mattered. After all, he was a much stronger version of himself now!

After the annual assessment, Mo Fan unsurprisingly ranked first.

However, he wasn't too concerned with that. He continued to immerse himself in cultivation. He also learned that neither his father, Mo Jiaxing, nor his sister, Xin Xia, had been harmed.

Mu Zhuoyun hadn't made a move, likely because Deng Kai and the others were watching closely.

After all, Mo Fan was now part of the elite class.

The elite class consisted of only a hundred students, those who were able to attend lectures in the large classroom and practice in the main training grounds. Most of them had mastered seven star alignments, though not everyone was proficient in casting.

Their practical instructor was still Tang Yue. Despite being new to the school, her cultivation level surpassed that of any other teacher. Although she had only been at the school for less than six months, the elite class's practical lessons were her responsibility.

Their homeroom teacher, Xue Musheng, was still their class head. He had benefited greatly from Mo Fan and Mu Bai being in the class; otherwise, he might still be teaching the beginners.

Still, Xue Musheng often worried about Mo Fan, who had openly defied Bo City's most powerful man. However, after a month had passed with no retaliation, he finally relaxed a little. A month later, resource distribution day arrived.

Even Mo Fan was quite excited today because his little loach was finally going to grow stronger!

When Xue Musheng gave him his Stardust Magic Tool, he also informed Mo Fan that his usage time had been reduced. Mo Fan didn't care in the slightest and just kept nodding enthusiastically. The little loach in his pocket seemed to sense the arrival of its food and was practically jumping for joy.
