Chapter 121: Journey to the Dark Abyss

"Do you even know what you're saying? That's the Dark Abyss!!!"

It was clear that the Yao Nan was getting a bit frantic, perhaps because of how reckless Mo Fan was acting.

The Dark Abyss!

Even Forbidden Curse Mages were reluctant to step into such a human-forbidden zone.

"Calm down. Since I'm going, I have my reasons. And I won't be in danger. According to my investigation, after tonight, the ancient city will face a great disaster!"

"I have to go to the Dark Abyss."

"If we wait until the Ancient King awakens, it'll be too late. Even the protective barrier won't be able to stop it because the Ancient King himself is the one who created it."

Without saying anything more, Mo Fan threw out a final line, "Go back, wait for my good news," and charged forward again.

By now, there were almost no low-level rotting corpses left. Most of the enemies were warrior-level or higher. Even Corpse Ministers and Bone Generals were emerging from the ground.

It was unclear whether they had just awakened or had recently evolved to higher levels.

The Yao Nan watched Mo Fan rush forward without hesitation, cursed "madman" under his breath, and began heading back to the ancient city.

Mo Fan's earlier words were difficult for him to process. It was just too bizarre!

The light-element array had activated, but the number of rotting corpses showed no sign of decreasing. Moreover, Corpse Generals, who had rarely appeared before, were now increasing in numbers!

Farther away, among the densely packed undead army, there were creatures the size of small mountains. Their roars could be heard all the way from the city walls, shaking the earth with every monstrous spell they cast.

These were the undead leaders. Even when hit by the full force of the most powerful magic, the multicolored spells that fell on them like a rainbow of death only made them stagger slightly!

After all, not everyone had an overwhelming destructive power.

Just as Mo Fan was charging forward, a blinding golden light suddenly flashed in the dark clouds above. A vast golden radiance pierced through the pervasive death energy, clearing the area and filling it with a sense of purity!

In the next moment, Mo Fan saw a giant golden sword descending from the sky!

The sword was made entirely of golden light, so enormous that it seemed to bridge the heavens and earth. The earlier golden glow had been emitted from this massive divine sword.

With a deafening "buzz!!!", the sword plunged straight down, piercing into the colossal body of a towering Bone Minister, pinning it to the blackened ground. The unbreakable bones of the Bone Minister began to crumble under the divine sword's pressure.

The bone mountain collapsed, and the divine sword stood tall, humming. The once invincible Bone Minister showed no signs of life, reduced to a pile of useless bones!

Witnessing this, Mo Fan grew even more interested in the super-tier magic of the light element.

That enormous sword of light was said to be the most powerful single-target destruction magic within the super-tier!

At least for anything below a monarch-level creature, this magic could guarantee a lethal blow.

The one who cast this devastating magic was none other than the well-known Hunter King Du Xiao, one of the super-tier mages. After finishing off the leader-level creatures, he too joined the battle against the Undead Lord.

Though Mo Fan was still some distance away, he could see the battle clearly. Even with four super-tier mages fighting against the Undead Lord, which was only a minor Monarch-level entity, they were still evenly matched!

That's the terror of the undead!

Even though undead lords possess intelligence, they feel no fear of pain, and as long as their core remains intact, they cannot die.

So in truth, undead creatures are stronger in battle than demons!

If a demon lord got injured, it would retreat.

But an undead lord wouldn't stop unless its core was fatally damaged.

The four super-tier mages were unleashing massive destruction spells, one after another.

Mo Fan's goal was the Dark Abyss, but there was no way he could simply pass through the battlefield where lords and super-tier mages were clashing. So, he found himself entangled in fights with the undead.

To conserve his magic power, Mo Fan summoned his Winged Azure Wolf.

As soon as the Winged Azure Wolf appeared, it was overwhelmed!

This master of his was always dancing on the edge of death!

Still, as long as the enemies weren't monarch-level undead, the Winged Cyan Wolf could handle them.

"Boom! Boom!"

"Crash! Crash!"

The battle on the other side lasted for over an hour before it finally ended.

The Undead Lord was dead, but the super-tier mages had paid a heavy price. Especially Lu Xu, the superior of Wei Fang, who had lost an arm.

Even so, they had secured a minor victory, and now they were retreating to the city.

As Zhu Meng passed by, he spotted Mo Fan.

"Mo Fan?"

Zhu Meng looked at him, stunned.

"What are you doing here!?" Zhu Meng demanded.

"I need to reach the Dark Abyss. Once the main force returns, evacuate to the inner city immediately. The outer city walls won't hold, and by tomorrow night, the Dark Abyss will move to the northern city wall."

Mo Fan explained.

Zhu Meng, much like the Yao Nan, was taken aback.

"I don't have time to explain everything. Just tell Han Ji to remember our agreement about the resources."

With that, Mo Fan had the Winged Azure Wolf move forward.

Zhu Meng watched him go, his mouth twitching.

The Dark Abyss!

Could anyone really enter such a place?

And what exactly was Mo Fan relying on to attempt it?

Just as Zhu Meng was deep in thought, Monarch-level undead began emerging from the ground below.

Unlike the Commander-level undead, these creatures possessed special abilities that allowed them to attack targets in the air. Zhu Meng didn't dare stay any longer and quickly flew back toward the outer city.

Still, Mo Fan's words weighed heavily on his mind. He was deeply worried about the ancient city.

With the Winged Azure Wolf clearing the way, Mo Fan's progress toward the Dark Abyss continued smoothly, even though they still encountered plenty of undead. They couldn't stop his advance.

As he fought through, Mo Fan even absorbed remnants of the Undead Lord's soul.

Though it was a bit of a shame, having something was still better than nothing.

As he ventured deeper, cold winds as sharp as ghostly claws began sweeping toward him. The further he went, the more chilling the wind became, as if it could tear his soul to pieces!

Wailing winds and ghostly cries filled the air, signaling that he was nearing the Dark Abyss.

In this area, even the undead seemed to fear for their lives. As Mo Fan and the Winged Azure Wolf passed over the thickest corpse wall, the number of undead ahead actually decreased.

Even the Winged Azure Wolf could no longer withstand the terrifying pressure, so Mo Fan sent it back to its summoned plane.

Now, he had to proceed on foot. However, without the undead in his way, the path wasn't too difficult to traverse.

As he advanced, Mo Fan had Little Loach provide him with protection. Without it, he wouldn't step into this human-forbidden zone, no matter how much money was offered.
