A private plane descended near Douyu University, landing smoothly on the tarmac.
As the engines quieted, three figures disembarked: two imposing men and a young, stunning blonde with radiant blue eyes.
The men, snipers named Chuck and Carlos, exuded an aura of danger, while the young woman, Beth, appeared nervous yet determined.
Chuck, with a fierce expression, turned to Beth. "Listen carefully. Head to the girls' dormitory and ask about a student named Ni Shuang. If you find her, tell her someone is looking for her and to come downstairs. Got it?"
Beth's heart raced, and she nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Got it."
Carlos chimed in, his tone menacing. "Be obedient, or we'll kill your sister, Maggie."
Fear gripped Beth, tightening its hold on her throat.
Before the apocalypse, she and Maggie had traveled to Dragon Country for a vacation, unaware that their home—Lighthouse Country—had succumbed to chaos. Their plans to return were shattered, leaving them trapped in a hostile environment.
Now, after being taken by these strangers, the sisters found themselves caught in a web of threats and peril. Beth's nerves frayed under the weight of the situation. She had never imagined that people from her own country could be so ruthless.
As Chuck observed Beth's fear, a sinister gleam sparked in his eyes. Her vulnerability and beauty only intensified his dark intentions. With the sisters under their control, he relished the thought of manipulating them further.
Carlos, however, voiced his concern. "Chuck, if we only catch Ni Shuang and not Yuto Saito, won't he retaliate? He's powerful."
Chuck shrugged, his confidence unwavering. "Yuto Saito can take down fifth-tier giant zombies, but we only need to eliminate Ni Shuang first. It'll show our strength."
Carlos nodded, slowly understanding Chuck's strategy. "So, we take out Ni Shuang and then deal with Yuto?"
"Exactly. We demonstrate our capability to our employer. If we claim Yuto is too strong for us, they might reconsider the deal and hold back on supplies," Chuck replied, a calculating smile on his lips.
Beth listened intently, formulating her own plan. If she could help them with their task, perhaps her sister and she could escape. But if she aided Yuto Saito, a formidable opponent according to the men, maybe he could turn the tables on her captors.
With newfound determination, Beth followed the men to the school gate.
Carlos pushed the door open, grinning. "The security here is pathetic."
Chuck agreed, "Exactly what we need."
They swaggered into the campus, rifles slung casually over their backs, while Beth trailed behind, her heart pounding.
As they descended the stairs, Chuck warned her again. "Don't even think about playing tricks. Your sister's life depends on your obedience. Remember what I told you?"
"I remember," Beth stammered, her fear palpable.
"Repeat it," Chuck demanded.
"Go to the girls' dormitory, find Ni Shuang, and tell her someone is looking for her downstairs," Beth recited, fear etched in her features.
Chuck grinned wickedly. "Perfect! Now, put this bug on."
Without resistance, Beth clipped the device to her clothing, dread pooling in her stomach.
Chuck gestured for her to lead the way. "Go ahead."
With trembling legs, Beth made her way toward the girls' dormitory.
Chuck and Carlos quickly ascended the stairs to the building's top floor, taking position to ambush.
They readied their sniper rifles, aiming at the dormitory, listening intently through earpieces as Beth entered.
Inside, Beth encountered a female student. "Excuse me, do you know which dormitory Ni Shuang is in?"
"I'm not sure, but she lives upstairs," the girl replied.
As Beth moved toward the stairs, she bumped into Mina, Juzi, Nazi, and Ruoruo, who were heading to visit Hu Tuan'er and Rice Noodles.
Ruoruo raised an eyebrow. "Hey, is that a foreign student? I've never seen her before."
Mina eyed Beth warily. "She's definitely not from our school."
Nazi added, "The security guard bailed early; anyone could waltz in here. She's probably looking for someone."
Orange commented, "She's stunning, though."
Beth approached them, her voice polite yet anxious. "Excuse me, which dormitory does Ni Shuang live in?"
Ruoruo's interest piqued. "Are you looking for Sister Ni Shuang?"
Beth blinked, feeling guilty. "Yes, I'm looking for her."
Ruoruo continued, "Sister Ni Shuang is…"
Mina quickly interrupted, pointing down the hall. "Fifth room on the right."
"Thank you!" Beth called back, relief washing over her as she headed toward the room.
Watching her go, Ruoruo turned to Mina, puzzled. "Why didn't you let me finish? What if she's a friend of Sister Ni Shuang?"
Mina replied, "Call Sister Shuang now and see if she knows a blonde girl."
Ruoruo nodded and immediately dialed Ni Shuang.
Meanwhile, on the floating island, Ni Shuang relaxed on the sofa, listening to music when her phone rang.
"Hello, Ruoruo," she answered.
Ruoruo asked, "Sister Shuang, do you know a young, beautiful foreign girl? Blue eyes, blonde hair, about 18 years old—she was just looking for you."
Ni Shuang thought for a moment. "No, I don't know her."
Ruoruo pressed, "Are you sure? Could she be a fan?"
"I really don't know any blonde girls. My fans call me Ni Mowen or Aunt Wang, but they don't know my real name is Ni Shuang."
"Okay, thanks for clarifying."
After hanging up, Ruoruo turned to Mina. "Sister Shuang doesn't know her."
Mina frowned. "That girl seems very suspicious."
Nazi suggested, "Mina, why not use your charm to interrogate her? See what you can find out."
Mina replied, "First, let's check on Hu Tuan'er and Rice Noodles. I'll handle this."
