Yuto Saito's cell phone vibrated persistently. He glanced at the caller ID: it was Shi Qian.
"Hey, Shi Qian," Yuto answered.
"Brother Su, we've already left the school," Shi Qian said from the other end.
"You guys left school?" Yuto repeated, surprised.
"Yes, we left this morning," Shi Qian confirmed.
"Where are you?" Yuto asked.
"We're in Fuman Community."
"Isn't there a zombie over there?" Yuto questioned, a hint of concern in his voice.
"Everyone in this community ran away," Shi Qian explained. "I led the gang members here. The school isn't good for defense."
Hearing this, Yuto understood. Shi Qian clearly wanted to build his own power, deliberately choosing a larger location as a base. In the past, whenever Shi Qian played games, he always aimed for leadership. For example, in Empire Mythology, he had to be the city lord, the one with the most authority. It was no wonder Shi Qian's loyalty had never exceeded 90%, despite their good relationship. It seemed Shi Qian had his own agenda and didn't want to remain subservient for long.
"Brother Su," Shi Qian continued, "people from the military came to the school this morning and took some of the students to the shelter. The boys' dormitory is empty, but there are still a few girls left in the girls' dormitory."
Yuto was a little surprised that the military had taken students to a shelter. He had planned to check for any unawakened individuals who might have slipped through the cracks that afternoon. Now, it seemed, there was no chance. Plans rarely kept up with changes! For the current Yuto Saito, though, those talents were optional. With his 36-star combat power, he could easily hold his own, even without further improvement.
"Okay, I see," Yuto replied.
"Has the alchemist been found?" Shi Qian asked.
"I found one," Yuto answered. "Not only can she make strengthening potions, but she can also make awakening pills. The materials are hard to find, though."
"Enhancing potion and awakening pill?" Shi Qian exclaimed in surprise. "What materials are needed? Maybe I can help."
"To refine the strengthening potion, you need bear blood, chicken blood, turtle shell, snake blood, and spar," Yuto explained. "To refine the Awakening Pill, you need five kinds of monster bones of the sixth rank or above to make a soup, and then ten inner pills and ten crystal stones to refine ten Awakening Pills."
"Eat the awakening pill, and you can randomly awaken a talent!" he added.
Shi Qian listened carefully, then said excitedly, "Awakening Pills sound amazing, but unfortunately I can't help with those,I can't beat a sixth-order monster. I can help with the strengthening potion, though. What materials are you still lacking?"
"Currently, for strengthening potions, only snake blood is lacking. The rest are still needed," Yuto clarified. "For the awakening pill, I only have one sixth-order monster material so far."
"Brother Su, you killed a sixth-order monster?" Shi Qian asked, clearly shocked.
Yuto smiled. "Yes, I killed two this morning. Two sixth-order ones."
"You're too strong! I only have 2-star combat power right now." Shi Qian felt a renewed urgency to improve. If Yuto could kill a sixth-order monster, he estimated Yuto's strength was at least 7-star. If Shi Qian knew Yuto's true strength, he wondered how he would react.
"You can help me collect spar, and I'll find the other materials," Yuto suggested. "Or, if you find a high-level monster, you can notify me to deal with it."
"Okay, I have some spar here. I'll give it to you when I accumulate a little more," Shi Qian replied.
"Sounds good," Yuto responded.
After hanging up the phone, Yuto saw the girls walking into the villa.
"Is everything settled?" Yuto asked.
Ni Shuang nodded, a smile like a blooming flower on her face. "Yes, my little cousin is very happy. She even wants to meet the island owner, it made me laugh so much."
"She'll see me in the future," Yuto said. "Shi Qian just called and mentioned the military took some students to the shelter this morning. The boys' dormitory is empty, and only a few remain in the girls' dormitory. Go and retrieve the remaining female students and arrange for them to live in Building 2. Let them take a day off, and they can start farming tomorrow."
"Okay," Ruoruo replied.
Yuto noticed Mina seemed preoccupied. "Mina, what's wrong?" he asked.
"I called my parents several times, but I couldn't connect," Mina worried. "They're abroad, and something might have happened."
"Do you have an address where they live?" Yuto asked.
"Yes," Mina confirmed.
Hu Tuan'er suggested, "How about we go over and take a look?"
Mina's eyes lit up. "Okay! I've been there twice; my parents have a basement. Maybe they're hiding there."
"Xiaoshuang, Natto, follow along," Yuto instructed. "Natto's golden bell can protect Hu Tuan'er from being interrupted. The situation abroad is unknown, and there might be many zombies."
"Okay," Ni Shuang replied.
Natto comforted Mina. "Sister Mina, maybe your uncles and aunts really are hiding in the basement. Don't worry."
"There might be no signal in the basement," Yun Yun guessed.
"That's very possible," Ni Shuang agreed.
Hu Tuan'er then used teleportation to send Mina, Ni Shuang, and Natto to Huaer Street in Lighthouse Country. Yuto wasn't worried about them; the four 9-star powerhouses could easily handle zombies.
Yuto looked at Nako and the others. "Nako, Juzi, Ruoruo, go to the girls' dormitory."
"Okay," Nako replied.
Nako, Juzi, and Ruoruo left the villa together and stood in the courtyard. A beam of light transmitted them to the ground.
Ruoruo smiled. "Wow, it used to be an elevator, but now it's beam transmission! It's getting more and more impressive."
"Every time the floating island is upgraded, it's surprising," Juzi remarked.
Nako added, "I estimate it won't be long before the floating island can be upgraded again."
"Well," Ruoruo agreed, "the next upgrade will definitely bring out the commercial street."
"Let's go," Nako said, "to Sister Zhou's dormitory. They're definitely still there. Sister Zhou has been clamoring to 'hug the captain's thigh' for ages."
"Hahaha, Sister Zhou is really smart," Ruoruo chuckled.
Juzi said, "After connecting with my parents, I have no worries. Before, I always wanted to bring my parents here, but I didn't dare to."
"Before, the floating island only had our villa, so we couldn't let our parents live with us. Do you think Brother Su would agree?" Ruoruo mused.
Juzi nodded. "Yes. Fortunately, Brother Su chose to build a community this time."
"Brother Su has already said that our parents will be brought over before the floating island reaches level 5," Ruoruo assured her. "Don't worry, the floating island will definitely get better and better in the future."
As they chatted, the three girls arrived at the entrance of the girls' dormitory. Entering, they found no one on the first floor. Walking up the stairs, the trio reached Sister Zhou's dormitory.
