"Wait a second," Cleo said firmly while gently pushing Rex back, or more accurately, Rex allowed himself to be pushed.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, a teasing grin forming as his fingers lightly brushed hers, causing her breath to hitch.
"We can't... do this here," she said while her voice wavered as she tried to keep her composure. "What if someone sees us? Or what if you lose your balance and sink?"
Rex chuckled softly, his confidence unwavering. "That's your excuse? You underestimate me, Cleo. I picked up a little trick last time I fought that beast." As he spoke, he suddenly stopped floating, his body steady as though standing on solid ground beneath the water.
"What? How are you?" Cleo's curiosity got the better of her. She squinted while peering into the water and realized Rex was standing on a glowing honeycomb-like shield beneath his feet.
